In late March, we discovered we were expecting our first child. However, it came as a surprise in mid-June that we were expecting two more. The triplets were due a week before Christmas, but Daniel Constantin, Adrian Philippe, and Josefina Saira came early, on December 6th. We were in Luxembourg, spending the Christmas season with Felix's parents. Josefina needed some extra time in the NICU, but she was released a week later, and went home with us. Felix's sister and brother came for Christmas with their families and were able to meet the new additions.
The triplets are all fraternal, with black hair, fairly straight. Josefina and Adrian were born with blue eyes, which changed to match Daniel's dark hazel in a few days.

Daniel, Adrian, and Josefina had just turned seven months old when Felix took a new job. With his history of working internationally, he got a position with the United Nations' UNESCO, working in the field of promoting cultural diversity. With this transfer, we moved
from Lisbon to Paris, France. We still spent a lot of time in Lisbon, as his job spends a lot of time in both cities.
I also took a job with Medicins Sans Frontieres, or Doctors Without Borders, helping train the doctors who will be going out into the field. It is part time until the triplets are a little bit older, when I will also go to poorer nations like Ukraine and Romania as a doctor.

The triplets weren't even two when I got pregnant again. We had a baby girl, Magdalena Aurora (Biblical and Mythology). She was born on her uncle's birthday, November 11th, who is now her godfather. Her hair is very wavy and brown, her eyes green.

Year Six:
On a visit to Romania with Doctors Without Borders, I was helping an AIDS center and came across a little girl who had just been orphaned, though she thankfully didn't have the disease. The two year old, named Valentina Maria, had brown hair and big blue eyes. When I returned home, I talked to Felix and we went back several weeks later and adopted her. Three year old Josefina was very excited that their names rhymed. The dogs Darcy and Amira have been taking these recent additions very well. They love the five kids and the kids love them back.

Year Seven:
This year, the triplets turned four, Valentina three, and Magdalena two. Valentina was a such a wonderful addition to our growing family, we decided to adopt again, this time from Colombia. Colombian law states that the adopting parents be there for approximately a month, so Felix and I decided that I should go first to get everything started. He would follow in two-three weeks. We were hesitant to bring the rest of the children because of the narcotics trafficking there, so we asked his sister to take care of the five of them for about two weeks.
Our six year old son already had a name - Santiago Cruz. He has wavy brown hair and dark, mischievous eyes. He and Felix bonded quickly while we were at the orphanage with him over football (soccer). He doesn't speak any English or French, but Felix and I speak Spanish and plan to teach him quickly. We now have six children, all under the age of seven: Santiago, Daniel, Adrian, Josefina, Valentina, and Magdalena.

I get a promotion and now focus on several different problems in specific areas of the world with Doctors Without Borders.
Santiago is seven, Daniel, Adrian, and Josefina turn six at the end of the year. Valentina is four and Magdalena is three.

Our family is added to one more time when Enrique Sebastian (Spanish and Honoring) is born on March 18th. His hair is brown and straight, and his eyes are the same color as his father's.

Year Ten:
Right after Enrique came Etienne Xavier (French and X). His hair is darker, almost black, with hazel eyes. Etienne was born on June 18th, which is incidentally the date of the Battle of Waterloo . Our family is getting larger, (eight children) but we love them all.
Santiago is nine and attends school in Paris with the triplets and Valentina. He is very talented at football and plays on a local league with Josefina, Adrian, and Daniel. Those three are seven. Santiago and Adrian are love football and talk about it a lot. Magdalena is a five year old kindergartner, and attends ballet classes at the Paris Opera with her sisters. Etienne and Enrique aren't really old enough to have interests, but they both love playing with the dogs, Darcy and Amira. The kids old enough to speak are fluent in both English and French, and Santiago speaks Spanish as well. They also know some Portuguese from the time we spend in Lisbon.
After watching the Olympics, the girls take interest in figure skating and are taking lessons from a nearby rink. Daniel, as well, has started and pairs up with his sisters.

We decided to take the kids to America for our first real family vacation; first California for Disneyland, then on to Hawaii. Thank goodness Felix's brother Sebastian came with us; he and his wife Leonor have only two children who are Santiago and Valentina's ages. Four adults with ten children is much more manageable that two with eight. They enjoyed it immensely and were well behaved for the most part. On the way back to Europe we stopped in New York City. They especially loved Times Square and ate huge cupcakes at Crumbs bakery. We took the older children to a Broadway play and I took our little ballerinas to see Sleeping Beauty.

Once again, Felix and I have another baby, this time a girl named Sofia Leonor (Place and Honoring). Born on May 1st (May Day), she has green eyes and wavy dark brown hair.

A ten year old Palestinian orphan is adopted by us named Zahra Shakira. She has very dark eyes and hair, with a dark olive complexion.

Because of our jobs, we have to move from Paris to Geneva, Switzerland. We still have our house in Lisbon.
Santiago is thirteen, Adrian, Daniel, and Josefina are eleven, Zahra is almost eleven, Valentina is ten and Magdalena nine. Enrique is five, Etienne is four, and Sofia is two.
Zahra has joined Josefina, Santiago, and Adrian on the football pitch, showing talent. Josefina still does ice skating with the other two girls and Daniel. Valentina and Daniel have paired up and want to either compete in pairs or ice dancing. Enrique has started kindergarten with Etienne begging to go as well; the two are usually inseparable.

We took two family vacations this year, one to Villefranche-sur-Mer, a little town on the French Riviera. It was beautiful, with a lot of things to do as well as surrounding cities like Nice. The second was in the fall to Disneyland once again, as the older kids had so much fun the first time. They loved the rides, like Space Mountain and Splash Mountain and especially Pirates of the Caribbean.
-Santiago is now fourteen and likes football and American crime shows.
-Adrian is twelve. His favorite sport is football, but he also likes art, especially painting.
-Daniel is twelve. He does figure skating with his sisters and likes to swim.
-Josefina is twelve also. She figure skates, loves the jumping. She also does football.
-Zahra just turned twelve, and fit immediately in with the family. She adores football and would play it all the time.

-Magdalena is ten, and also loves ballet and figure skating. She watches crime shows with Santiago.
