Year One: We went to the Bahamas for our one year anniversary.
Year Two: We adopted a child from Africa. This is something both of us had always wanted to do. Our daughter’s name is Abeni Dayo which means “we asked for her, and behold, we got her” and “joy arrives” in Yoruba. She is 8 years old and we call her Beni. Her birthday is November 12th.
Year Three: I got pregnant, with twins! This year we welcomed a boy and a girl. Our son has black curls and green eyes. Michael Dakota was born first. Our daughter has straight black hair and hazel eyes. Isabella Rose was second. The birth went smoothly and Mike an Bella were both healthy. Their birthday is November 22nd.
Year Four: Not long after the twins were born I got pregnant again. With a wavy blond haired, brown eyed girl. Unfortunately she was born prematurely and had to spend a 6 weeks in the hospital before we could bring her home. We are very happy that we have Georgia Adrianna home now. Her birthday is November 19th. November is a big month for us.
Year Five: Good thing we wanted a big family because this year I had another daughter. This one has blonde curls and brown eyes. I was on a business trip in Milan when she was born so she is a resident of two countries already. Jennifer Quinn aka Jenni was born on August 30th. The first not born in November and yes about 9 months after Georgia.
Year Six: There’s been a big change this year as in Bella was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes this year. It has been a big adjustment for everyone but Bella is doing great and all her siblings are very helpful.
Year Seven: We took a family trip to Seattle. We have never taken a trip with all of us so this was a needed thing. The kids loved it.
Year Eight: Mike is thrilled because he now has a baby brother. He has curly blond hair and blue eyes. With this baby I had to be induced which was a new experience for me. Zebadiah Xander was born August 15th.
Year Nine: The agency that we adopted Abeni from contacted us and told us that Abeni has a sibling that has been up for adoption since birth. We decided they needed to be together so we adopted this child too. Her sister is ten and is named Rudo Nyah nicknamed Rudy. Beni and Rudy have bonded and so have the rest of the children. Rudy’s birthday is February 19th.
Year Ten: We found out about a little orphaned boy in Chile that at 13 would probably not be adopted but we couldn’t let that happen. So we flew out and met with the adoption agency. This year we brought home our 8th child. Alejandro Domingo was shy at first but has been opening up to us. His birthday is October 9th.
Year Eleven: This year I won a prestigious fashion award! We rented a yacht and spent the night sailing around to celebrate.
Year Twelve: The kids wanted a rabbit and we gave in so now we have a rabbit named Lola.
Year Thirteen: We adopted an orphaned boy from Haiti. Al and I fell in love with him on a mission trip. Ekene Kayode was orphaned at age 3 and had been in an orphanage ever since. He is now 16 and all hope had been lost for this poor child. We brought home our kid’s brother whom now goes by Ken. His birthday is April 3rd.
Year Fourteen: We moved to a bigger home because even in our big home things were getting cramped.
Year Fifteen: On our sixteenth anniversary, November 20th I gave birth to our youngest child, a wavy haired brunette girl with hazel eyes. We were on our way to Alaska on a cruise when our daughter was born. We were technically in Canada at the time. Mina Bonita was warmly welcomed home by her older siblings.
