Re: Immigrant NTNB Round 2
The O’Malley FamilyDH: Ian Sean (21)
DW: Nora Maeve (21)
DD: Bridget Hope (2) (Jade Diana)
DD: Kathleen Ivy The year is 1889, the brink of a new decade, and the O’Malley family is doing very well. Ian caught the attention of a wealthy man who saw his intelligence and spunk, and he gave Ian a job in his bank as a clerk. The little family was able to move out of the rooms above Ian’s aunt’s store into a nice flat in a quiet neighborhood with good schools and mostly friendly people. Nora has recently gotten a new job as well, as a teacher at a kindergarten for immigrant children. She got the job through a friend who works there and recognized her intelligence and her way with children. Nora loves the work and loves that she can bring Bridget with her every day. She has recently had to take a leave of absence for a few weeks, as she and Ian have just had their second child, another daughter! They want her FN to be Irish and her MN to be nature-related.
The Feldman FamilyDH: Avrum Hersh (28)
DW: Raisa Hodel (24)
DD/DS: Ruth Sarah / Aaron Matthew (3) (notabarbiedol and knitastick)
DS: Isaac DavidThe year is 1895, and Raisa and Avrum have left Brooklyn. They are from a small town and they did not like the noise and smog of the city. Also, two years after the twins were born Raisa suffered a miscarriage, which they both blamed on the pollution and the stress of city life. They moved their tailoring business to a smaller town outside the city, and they are much happier, as they live in a real house. The residents of the small town were rather wary of their immigrant neighbors at first, but they soon grew to trust and respect them for their good business and friendly ways and they have made some good friends. They decided that small-town life is where they belong, as almost at once after they moved Raisa became pregnant again. She recently gave birth to a fine son. They want his FN and MN to be an English (or used in English) version of traditionally Jewish names.
The Shu FamilyDH: Li Gang (25)
DW: Min Huan (20)
DS: Jian Yun (3) (itsjustme2407)
DD: Bao Zhi
The year is 1897, and things are not very good for Li Gang. His job on the railroad ended after a year, and since then he has had to work in his family’s restaurant in San Francisco for room and board. He and Min Huan are crowded in with his family in the small apartment above the restaurant, and though she doesn’t complain Li Gang knows Min Huan wants a home of her own. He has been looking for work, but the jobs he can find either pay less than what he makes now or require him to go away for months at a time, something he doesn’t want to do, especially since he and Min Huan have just had another baby. This one is a daughter, and Li Gang insists that one part of her name mean something like “precious” or “valuable,” as she and Jian Yun are the only treasures he can claim. Min Huan wants the other part of her name to mean “fortunate” or “smart,” since she knows she will need those traits in life.
The Rossi FamilyDH: Giacomo Celio (23)
DW: Alessandra Vittoria (21)
DS: Paolo AlviseThe year is 1904, and Giacomo and Alessandra have recently come to the United States. Giacomo, a talented jeweler, thought he could make more money in America. They originally arrived in New York, but after a few months decided to move to Boston, where Giacomo began working for another jeweler until he can afford to open his own shop. He and Alessandra are quite optimistic about their future, especially since only weeks after arriving in America, after two years of trying for a baby, Alessandra became pregnant. She gave birth to a fine healthy son. They want his FN to be after a famous Italian, and his MN to begin with an A.
