Mathias and Alodia have recently become the rulers of their country. The old king had decided to move to a soothing country estate by the seashore. As a King, Mathias has to name an heir for if the worst happens. It is LAW. So which child to choose?
Lysander was the obvious choice, but Mathias got to thinking, was it fair to only name an heir because of their birth order? So then he thought of Thomas, but it didn't seem right to name him heir but not his twin. When he ask his wife she raised the question of the girls, why was it only boys were considered to rule?
The parents, feeling guilty, as their children who they thought should rule. Anneliese, to her parents surprise, wanted the throne herself. Iliana couldn't care less and Evie said she wouldn't mind the throne. Lysander ask if that meant he wasn't getting it. The twins just gave a questioning look.
On the throne search they eliminated Iliana and the twins. The twins were just to young everyone decided. Who knew how they were going to turn out?
So it was up to Anneliese, Evie, and Lysander. Lysander mentioned that he would have a harsher punishment for criminals and he was cast out. They didn't want a harsh ruler. The to sister faced each other, Anneliese looking mad at her sister, Evie smiling. It was daddy's favorite against the eldest. Everyone around the castle knew who would win. Of corse Princess Evie would win her fathers vote. They were very surprised when it was announced, Crown Princess Anneliese would rule with Prince Lysander at military and Princess Evangeline would be her adviser. Princess Iliana would check them and would be able to remove them from their positions if they where abusing them. The twins would be replacements if their siblings failed and Thomas would be the foreign affairs advisor, Linnea would be treasurer if everything worked out.
This division of power had not existed before, the people at the positions (except Iliana's, no one had EVER imagined such a power to exist) were old and graying, people who died in the middle of a reign and had no real power.
Mathias and Alodia liked this arrangement because they knew even if Anneliese would be a ruler (have the most power), she would listen to her brothers and sisters. The royal family would be a team.

The new King and Queen went on a royal procession so they could introduce themselves more thoroughly to there subjects. The people loved there new rulers and Mathias and Alodia were invited to a dinner at a keep by the sea (Aquas). After dinner Alodia found she was having a baby (it was early) and wasn't seen till dawn. Mathias who went hunting with the noblemen at the keep never knew until He came back the next day at lunch, finding his wife holding a pre-named baby girl with blond curly hair. He was shocked.
Princess Merilynn Chamomile Lisette Undine was named by Alodia only. Merilynn came from 'Meri' meaning 'the sea' and 'Lynn', "the lake". Chamomile of corse she had been egging to use since the twins. Lisette she loved, and Undine after a water fairy. The King was not amused.

They continued on the procession and found Anneliese was attracting suitors! Unable to imagine Anneliese as anything but there little girl they made a royal degree that heirs to the throne couldn't marry until they're 18th birthday. Anneliese thought it was silly but agreed to it, anyways, she didn't love anyone she had been courted by yet. She had long decided she would marry for love, of if someone saved her like the dramatic story of her mother.
