Taylor Aikaterine Jones was born on July 1, 2012. Bekah and Eli did not expect a baby so early in their marriage--they had just celebrated their first anniversary on June 2nd. Bekah found out about her pregnancy in a rather unusual way--one of her coworkers! One day at lunch, one of the nurses made a comment about how Bekah was looking a little rounder in the stomach. Another nurse said that maybe she was pregnant. Bekah thought about it for awhile and found that it might be true. After work that day she made a quick trip to buy a pregnancy test and took it when she got home. Surprise! She called Eli right away and he was surprised as well. After a trip to the doctor, Bekah found out that she was almost finished her first trimester already and she hadn't even known she was pregnant. Taylor was born a day and a half before her due date, but she is healthy and has a wealth of straight brown hair and very pretty green eyes, especially for a newborn. Bekah and Eli settled on her name because they both liked Taylor, and Eli's fascination with Ancient Greece was satisfied with Aikaterine. Year 2: Job; You take a business trip. Where? How was it?
Bekah had been working for less than two months after Taylor was born when the supervisor had everyone sign up for a nursing conference in Minnesota at the Mayo Clinic. She was excited to be taking the trip, but a little apprehensive about leaving Eli and Taylor alone for the weekend. Eli has been gone plenty of times with his team, but this would be the first time she'd been out of state for an entire weekend. The conference was in mid-June, and it was very educational. Luckily, Eli didn't have any games that weekend and was able to take some time off so they didn't have to hire a babysitter. Year 3: Travel; You go on a second honeymoon. Where? Tell us about it?
Bekah and Eli have only been married for four years, but already they felt the need to take another honeymoon. Two weeks after Taylor's second birthday, she and Eli went to Canada to see Niagra Falls. Their first honeymoon they went to Walt Disney World in Florida, and this time they wanted something different. The two of them enjoyed relaxing and watching the Falls. Bekah was a little anxious about Taylor, since she was staying overnight at her grandparents' house for the first time, but she was perfectly all right when they went to pick her up three days later.Year 4: Child (boy) SO2; You had to have an Emergency C-section. Why?
Adam Marcus Jones was born on March 23, 2015. Bekah and Eli were busy on their second honeymoon, it seems. This time, Bekah knew she was pregnant by the time she was three weeks along. She had horrible morning sickness and just generally felt blah. Adam was a very active baby--always kicking and rolling around. Around the 8th month, Bekah noticed suddenly that Adam had stopped moving. She made an appointment with her doctor. After doing an ultrasound, he referred her to the hospital for an emergency C-section. In all his twisting and moving around, Adam had wrapped the umbilical cord around his neck and was cutting off circulation to his brain and not receiving enough oxygen through his blood. He wasn't breathing when doctors delivered him, but within a minute or two started coughing and sputtering. By the time Eli arrived four hours later, Adam was out of the NICU and in the room with Bekah. Poor Taylor was left out of the loop and didn't know what was happening, but she was excited to see her new little brother, even if he was a few weeks early. Year 5: Family affair: You had a near-death experience. Tell us about it.
Bekah works as a registered nurse at an adult day care. Most of the clients are elderly with dementia, but there are a few younger clients with congenital cognitive impairments or traumatic brain injuries. One day, one of the newest clients became agitated during a group activity. Bekah took the young man aside and tried to calm him down. Well, the next thing she knew, Bekah was on the ground defending herself from punches the man threw at her. One of her coworkers managed to pull the man off, and security arrested him. It was later confirmed by doctors that the man was suffering from hallucinations caused by a bleed in his brain. Bekah's supervisor insisted that she go to the ER and get checked out, but she only had minor cuts and bruises--not to mention a broken nose. Although Bekah wasn't seriously injured, she still considers herself lucky to have escaped the man. She was unable to go to work for a little over a month, and has just recently started back--always wary of the new clients who come through the door. Year 6: Child (boy) HX1; The father wasn't at the birth? Why?
Evan Joseph Jones was born on July 2, 2017, barely a day after his sister's fifth birthday. He was born almost two weeks before his due date, but relatively healthy. Eli was out of town at a hockey conditioning camp with one of his teammates (who runs the camp), and he didn't know his son had been born until July 3rd when he called to check in on Bekah (Bekah tried calling, but Eli's cell phone was dead). Eli came back home and bonded quickly with his newest little boy. Taylor and Adam are happy with another sibling, but Taylor really wanted a sister this time since she got a brother last time. Year 7: Child (boy) MZ1; The father wasn't at the birth? Why?
Matthew Dallas Jones was born on April 24, 2018 just 10 months after his brother Evan. Bekah and Eli certainly weren't trying to get pregnant again, but they welcome a fourth child. Eli always wanted a big family to love, and Bekah wanted what Eli wanted. Once again, Eli missed his son's birth--he was off in Tennessee playing playoff hockey when Bekah went into labor. It really isn't his fault--this time Bekah went into labor almost three weeks early. It seems with each child that they get earlier and earlier. Matthew spent about a week and a half in the NICU before the doctors would release him home, but Bekah was glad to have some time to finish the last-minute preparations. Year 8: Child (adoption)
Naira Illary Jones joined the family on September 30, 2019. She was born sometime in the fall about five years ago. She is from Peru, and is one of the first children of the Quechua tribe to be adopted in the United States, at least to Bekah's knowledge. Naira was originally supposed to be adopted by another family, but when that fell through the social worker contacted Bekah and Eli (who thought about adoption five years ago before their boys were born). Unable to say no, Eli gave the social worker permission to place Naira with them pending adoption. Bekah and Eli ended up adopting the little girl. She speaks Quechua and a smattering of English she learned at her foster home. Taylor has become Naira's best friend, and Taylor is so happy to finally have a sister--and one she can play with already. Year 9: Travel; You travel to a foreign country. Which one? Why? What did you do?
Since Naira was adopted from Peru, Eli thought it might be a good idea to visit there. Bekah and Eli took Taylor and Naira to Peru so that Naira could experience her culture once again. The four of them had a blast. The boys were upset that they couldn't go, but traveling with five children is much more difficult than traveling with two. Year 10: Child (boy) BR3; Both grandparents want to be in the delivery room? Why? Do you let them?
Alexander James Jones was born on February 22, 2021. It just seems there's always a new addition in the Jones family these days. Taylor and Naira were both hoping for a girl to balance things out, but now they have four brothers instead of three. Since Eli has missed the birth of his past several children, both sets of grandparents insisted that they should be the ones in the delivery room instead. Bekah wasn't about to let that happen, so she decided that if Eli wasn't there she'd call both sets of grandparents and whichever pair got to the hospital first could stay with her. As it turned out, Eli was home that day and was able to drive Bekah to the hospital himself. His parents came and stayed with the kids while Bekah's parents met them at the hospital after Alexander was born. Year 11: Pet You add a pet to your family. What is it? What's it's name?
In all of the busyness of raising their kids, Eli and Bekah have never had a pet. They decided that this was the year to get one. They packed all the kids up and went to the local ASPCA to pick out a dog. It was mass chaos at the shelter because each child wanted a different dog. In the end, Eli had each child say why they wanted that particular animal. He and Bekah decided to get a female cocker spaniel mix named Tulip (who was Evan's choice) because she was young, had a good temperament, and was just the right size to fit in the car with everyone. It has been two weeks since Tulip's arrival, and all the kids are smitten with her. Year 12: family affair Each of your children get a new hobby.
This has been a year of firsts in the Jones family. Taylor, 11, took up piano lessons pretty much on her own. She has decided to be a famous musician one day and just started playing the piano one day. Bekah signed her up for lessons and she's been progressing well. Naira, 9, has taken up ballet. She is a beautiful dancer and wants to be a ballerina when she grows up. Adam, 8, has been playing hockey since he was four. He has recently started playing soccer as well and has proven to be good at it. Evan, 6, has also started playing soccer. Matthew, 5, just started playing ice hockey. He loves it and wants to be just like his daddy. Alexander is just two, but he has just started walking and he likes to draw with crayons.Year 13: Travel; You take a family vacation. Where? How did the children react?
Eli and Bekah decided it was high time they take a vacation together. They decide to take the entire family to the beach. The kids really enjoyed themselves. Its the first time they've all been able to go to the beach for a long time. Eli and Bekah spent the week chasing kids and playing in the water. Year 14: Child (girl) HA6; You went into labor a few weeks earlier than was anticipated. Since this was unexpected; you delivered in an unusual place. What is the story?
Kennedy Marina Jones was born on April 7, 2025. Taylor is excited to finally have another sister. Naira has felt a bit out of place, since she isn't a "real sister", but Bekah assures her that they all still love her. The four boys like their new little sister and plan to teach her all kinds of fun things. Kennedy was born about eight weeks early. Although Bekah is used to her babies being delivered earlier than their due date, but she didn't think anything of it when she started having contractions at a fundraiser party for cancer hosted by Eli's hockey team. When her water broke about an hour after the contractions started, Bekah knew they were for real. She and Eli had planned to go to the hospital so she could have a c-section, but Kennedy was a little anxious. Bekah gave birth in the bathroom at the conference center where the fundraiser party was being held. An ambulance transported Bekah and Kennedy to the hospital. Kennedy spent two weeks in the NICU, but was able to go home afterward in good health. Year 15: Job; SO's boss came to dinner. How'd it go?
When Eli's coach wanted to come to dinner a few weeks ago, Bekah wasn't sure how it would go. Dinners at their house are usually chaotic and noisy, but Bekah allowed the coach to come for dinner anyway. The kids were surprisingly good, and Eli was congratulated on his good parenting skills. Of course, the next day dinner was back to its usual craziness. The Jones Family
