- This year the Queen gave birth to twins, two girls. The older was named Amelia Margaret Edwina Emma: Amelia after a princess from ancient times, Margaret after her great-aunt, Edwina after her maternal grandmother and Emma after another great-aunt.
The younger Alice Matilda Pauline Olga was named after Princess Alice, the sister of the ancient Princess Amelia, Matilda after an aunt, Pauline after her mothers older sister and Olga after the wife of William's brother Henry.
