Five years later...
At first, Rebecca was jealous of her new siblings, but now they are great friends! Becca loves to play with Angie (as we call Anjali), since she doesn't touch her favorite doll, Debby. She has a special notebook for her drawings.
Nicholas took a long time to adapt to our family. He is quite good at school (especially in Arts), and likes to read comic books so much he makes his own stories! Nick is a very curious child and loves to learn new things. He pays a lot of attention to everything when we travel to India and asks lots of questions about it to his dad.
Anjali is the most extroverted child of the family and always makes a mess in the house. She likes dancing and playing with her siblings.
We bought a new house last year, so Nick could finally have a dog! He named it Wally. He is Nick's best friend!

Three years later.....
It's been three years since Mackenzie and Jessica have joined our family. Jessica is fourteen and is doing excellent in grade 9. She has many friends she often goes shopping with and she enrolled in dancing and ballet classes a month after arriving in Edmonton. She loves dancing and her asthma doesn't hold her back. Jess has also learned to play the guitar and aspires to become a teacher. Mackenzie and Eliana have been nearly inseperable since they became sisters! Mackenzie has told us she's always wanted sisters and she got two! Both Kenzie and Ellie suffered a few breaks over the past three years but now they have each other to talk to since they know how it feels to have OI. The girls love to read and play dolls after school and Mackenzie learned to play the piano and always plays duets with Ellie. Mackenzie has adjusted to her grade 4 class in a private school Eliana and Jessica also attend. Both Ellie and Kenzie aspire to become doctors. Candy is also apart of the family and enjoys having many people willing to take her and Vincent out on walks. On behalf of the whole family, we would like to sincerely thank your adoption agency for giving us two beautiful daughters.

An Update From Alasdair....
Matthew was skittish and quiet when he first arrived and preferred to talk mostly to Rover than to Eben or me. But children, it seems, are resilient, because within a few months, he was out of his shell and very lively. He’s been here nearly six months now and he surprises us all the time. He’s a very clever boy and gets good reviews from his teacher. He’s taken an interest in the boats that dock near the house and in horses that Eben often rides and visits. We will probably let him begin taking riding lessons after the football season ends. While he did have a few questions about mine and Eben’s relationship at first, he is still young enough to be open minded and has taken the idea of two fathers in stride. I think he has found that I’ll mother him endlessly regardless of my gender. He has began to play with the other children in the family, cousins and Eben’s much younger brother and sister who are all five, six, and seven. Not to mention, they all love one more in the mix. He has also become a remarkable big brother for little Joanna.
Joanna, the little dear, as learned the wonders of Skype. We’ve been allowing her to talk on there with her mother as often as she’d like and we‘ll most likely plan a trip to visit her around Joanna‘s fourth birthday. She truly is the gentle touch in the house though. As much as I try my best to mother and be the soft sided one, she’ll probably always beat me with tenderness. She mothers her dolls and stuffed animals for hours and usually it’s me and Rover that get dragged into playing with her. Since Joanna has joined the family, I’ve become quite gifted at dressing dolls, changing their nappies and brushing their hair. Rover hasn’t quite discovered the art of being so patient, but he has learned that she’s small and fragile and he takes care of her almost as much as he does Matthew.
So far, I’d say it’s going rather well here and having them in the house has brightened my and Eben’s lives in ways I cannot describe. I’m very happy we can all be there for each other and I would like to think things will only continue to get better from here.

Updates
Isaac (Yitzhak) is now one year old. As the baby of the family he enjoys attention from all his siblings, especially Tali, who dotes on him, rather than treating him like just another member of the team.
Rachel's personality is much like Tali's, she's the life of the party but she also knows how to let other people be in the spotlight. She misses her parents but tries not to show it, for Liora's sake. She has taken up dance and gymnastics and is quite good.
Liora (Leah) changed her name shortly after arriving here because we already had a Talia. She also wanted the name to help her start fresh. She still cries when she thinks about her parents. She has also started to dance but she's not very good.

Five years later...
Theo seemed to have a little trouble adjusting at first but when the soccer season started I took him to sign up and he is doing very well. Neither Cairo or I like sports very much but we always make sure to go to Theo's games.
I signed Gabriel up for soccer as well, although he does not enjoy it nearly as much as Theo he still does well enough. Recently Gabriel has been asking about dropping soccer in favour of drawing more, Cairo and I have consented but told him he has to finish the season first.
I enrolled Elena in the ballet class I used to take, same teacher and all, barely two years ago and she seems to be enjoying it so far. Although Cairo wasn't happy that I was putting her through, 'that useless ballet crap', I ignored him. Ballet is an excellent form of art and excercise!
A year and a half or so after Theo, Elena and Gabriel came to live with us I decided to breed Brighid, she had a litter of eight puppies two of which we kept. Elena named the male Sparky and Gabriel named the female Griffin, for he seems to have developed an interest in mythology.
All three children are doing well in school, although Gabriel was having a bit of trouble with his peers a while back because he would rather sit and draw than run around at recess but everything seems to be working out now.
Thank you for letting these children be a part of our lives!

Three years later
I can hardly believe it's been three years since we adopted Jonathan, Isabella, and Catia! They have gone by so quickly, and I can't believe how fast the kids are growing!
Jonathan had the hardest time adjusting to his new family. He missed his birth parents and his friends and wasn't used to having an older sister. He and Lily came into conflict some, but in the end she was the one who helped him feel like a real part of the family. It took several months, but he finally began to see himself as our son. Now eight years old, he has grown into a tall, fun-loving, and active little boy. He took up the family love for swimming, and he still loves to skate whenever he can. He likes school, especially art, and he has shown a lot of talent, especially with painting.
Isabella, or Belle as she now insists on being called, had a much easier time that Jonathan did adjusting to the adoption. She was barely three at the time, and it didn't take very long for her to see us as her parents. She and Catia are very close. Both are bouncy, active little girls who love dolls and swings and drawing. Belle has recently joined ballet to be like her big sister. She looks up to Lily quite a lot, and Lily tries to be a good role model for her. Chris is teaching all the kids to speak Italian, but Belle seems to have taken to it the best. She loves school too and has a lot of friends.
Catia is Belle's partner in crime. The two are extremely close. Catia was very upset when Belle went to school and she couldn't and she was very happy this year when she got to go too.

Christmas Letter 2011
Happy Holidays to everybody! A year after adopting Mateo, Giulia, Zinedine, Michel, Emilie, and Roman, we have moved to a new, larger house in Paris. Soon after they arrived, Zinedine, Michel, and Andrei quickly bonded over soccer and started school together in September. Michel likes sports most, while Zinedine is more into school. He gets very good grades, and excels at math. Emilie and Sebastian are also very close. They have birthday parties for Emilie's dolls and Sebastian's stuffed animals nearly every week. Emilie and Michel swim together.
Giulia was pretty shy at first, and still is. She goes to the ballet class that Natalia teaches every Saturday morning and loves it. We took her to the ballet as a special birthday treat, and she wants to be like the ballerinas she saw there. Her mother has written to her several times, and is glad she is doing well. She has grown nearly two inches since she came here. She and Roman love to walk the dogs and play with them in the backyard. Roman started figure skating at the rink Natalia skates at, and they go every other night for practice. He has nightmares sometimes, but is adjusting well. Mateo, the youngest at age 1, is very alert and likes watching things through the window.
Everyone is pretty much fluent in French now, and we've been speaking some English to the kids to. We speak Arabic to Michel and Zinedine, and Natalia speaks Spanish to Mateo. Zinedine, Michel, Andrei, and Giulia play soccer with the team that Ben helps coach, and their younger siblings like to join them practicing in the backyard. They are all very excited for Christmas, Giulia especially, because we're going to see the Nutcracker. They all love playing in the snow.

We are now a big family! All the children are doing great! A month after adopting Linday she gave birth to Lucas. She is taking care of him but she knows that she can ask us for help if she needs or want to. All the younger kids love to have a baby to hold and kiss! Lindsay are doing fine as a mother and she loves her new family.
Adrian loves to have a brother close to his own age. When he first met Corbin they became very good friends. Corbin later told us that he wanted to change his name to a different C name. He wanted a new name as a new start in his new family. So he is now Colin Corbin!
Jordin is a very calm and cute little boy. We are trying to learn him some English. When he came to us his name was Jordi. We thought it was cute but everyone thought his name was Jordin! Eventually he started calling himself Jordin so we decided to change his name to that. We also changed his middle name Pau to Paul.
Destiny, Ophelia and Sara are all in different ages but they love to play together. They are our three little princess's.
All the children loves Jordin's cat Ari. They children are begging for a dog and we are thinking about getting them one.

It was an accident.
Lindsay was originally going to be called Lauren, but I thought Lindsay went better with the MN.

4 years later...
Anna, Rina (as Pavlo calls her), and Pavlo are doing wonderfully! Ira and Pavlo, now five, act like twins. They are both in kindergarten, and our refrigerator is papered with their drawings and finger paintings. They are nearly inseparable, although this sometimes results in their causing disasters around the house if we're not super-careful! Anna and Chava are both in ballet, and Anna has asked to start martial arts as well. Anna is in 2nd grade and her teachers love her. Rina inherited Chava's massive Beanie Baby collection and is very happy about that. She is more introverted than the other two children, but she is beginning to open up. She is in preschool. We are teaching all of the children Hebrew, and all five of our children go to synagogue weekly.
Katya, of course, did not take well to the sudden change in surroundings and does not get along optimally with our other cats. She lives with Anna and Chava upstairs, where they share a room.
Anna and Rina's parents have written letters and sent a few small gifts; since they gave up their girls for adoption, they have had a baby boy, Mikhail. We have pictures for the girls, and we plan to travel to Russia to visit their biological parents later in the year, probably over the summer. Thank you so much for adding these children to our lives!
