It is now 1930. Ben is close to retiring, but has decided to stay on and help Stephen run the dairy farm as long as he can. Ben Jr. struggled as a writer in New York and decided to join the military to experience the world. He wrote a short letter last year saying that he had married a woman in the Philippenes and that he had a son named Joey. Eliza and Eli had another set of twins three years ago, and they are all doing well. Stephen and Sarah had a daughter in 1928 they named Hope. A few months ago, Sarah died while giving birth to a son that Stephen named Luke. Stephen was devastated when his wife died, but Becky has been helping him care for his young children. Sarah and Aaron were married five years ago. They have three small children. Sarah is a little overwhelmed, but doing well otherwise. Aaron's business is doing well despite the downturn in the economy. Jonny got married last year to a young woman named Lydia. He and Lydia met while Jonny was in New York visiting his eldest brother. Lydia was on the street with her young son and was completely broke. She and Jonny had a whirlwind romance and got married seven months after they met. Debbie got married two days after her eighteenth birthday. She married another young dairy farmer from the next town over named Caleb Sutter. She and Caleb have a daughter named Nancy.
