The war years were horrible for the Bishop family. Robert was gone, and Meg kept herself busy raising their children, but ever fearful that one day a telegram would arrive... In 1916 Robert was granted a 3 week leave of absence and came home. For that short time, the Bishop's were happy, but when Robert left to return to the war, he left behind more than he realised. Mail was torturously slow in the war, so Robert didn't get the news that his wife was once again pregnant for almost 6 months! Robert was once again granted leave to attended the birth of his 9th child, and the Bishop's welcomed little Cate in 1917, and joy of joy's, the lord smiled on them - before Robert could return to his battalion, the war came to an end.
3 years passed and the Bishops have rebuilt their lives as best they can. They came out the other side a lot better than many families, at least Robert came home in one piece, and the war ended just before Rob's 18th birthday, so he didn't even get the oppurtunity to fight...
Now, the Bishop's eldest daughter, Alice, is happily married to James Harrods, the son of a wealthy relator in London. The whole family was sad to see her move away, but London isn't that far away. Alice & James do not have any children, although Robert & Meg are anticipating a pregnancy announcement to come along sooner rather than later.
Rob is currently engaged to a lovely girl named Nora, who is actually descendend from royalty! You wouldn't think it to meet the Lady Nora, but as her mother happily points out, Nora is 19th in line to the throne of England! Rob & Nora could care less about all of that as they truly are head over heels in love and can't wait to marry, but Nora's father is insisting that they wait until Nora turns 18. It frustrates Rob & Nora to no end as they really just want to be together, but Robert & Meg understand completely, after all, they've put the same rule on 16 yr old Beth & her beau Andrew!
Andrew Linley comes from a very high-society family, and he & Beth met in the markets 6 months ago and have been inseparble ever since. The Linley's absolutely adore Beth, and await her 18th birthday impatiently.
