Luka Maksim was born on March 7 in Moscow, Russia to a teenage mother. He was left at the orphanage hours after his birth because his young mother lacked the skills or desire to care for him. After thinking about adoption for quite some time, (as it was always a dream of Lucy's to adopt,) they heard about little Luka, who they fell in love with as soon as they met and began the process. It took several months, but on December 21, they brought home the best Christmas present they could ask for, a fifth child. Nathaniel and Lucy were instantly in love with his name, and decided to only add Peter as a second middle name, to honor Nathaniel's brother who passed away just before Luka was brought home. Luka's older siblings were all thrilled to meet him and have been very helpful since he's been home.
