After years of pleading by Cassie and Anneli, Corinne and Émile have finally submitted and gotten their girls a dog. Basma is a two-year-old Samoyed, named after her pretty smile. She loves the kids and happily gives the little ones pony rides around the yard - much to Cassie's chagrin! Cassie is taking comfort, though, in the hours (and hours and hours) of fetch that Basma will gladly play. Corinne and Émile, too, have fallen under Basma's spell and Corinne has taken to knitting sweaters out of the copious piles of hair produced after last shedding season.
