Avy is having a very hard time getting around. The baby is almost there. She's very nervous about giving birth. Raff is getting more anxious as well. He doesn't like it that he is not sure whether they'll have a boy or a girl, he's afraid he'll be disappointed if it's a girl. Avy doesn't even mind not knowing, she doesn't even care what it'll be, as long as the baby has 10 fingers and 10 toes.
Avy's family has been working on the nursery. Avy is there to help with what should go where and in which colour, but Raff isn't really interested. He actually thinks it's weird to decorate a room for the baby, in his opinion just the crib and a place to change to baby would have been fine in that room without all the little animals painted on the wall. It's not as if the baby will care...
Raff has been taking on extra shifts at the bar. He works every night of the week now, and long shifts at that. Avy isn't excited about this, but since they decided she would stay home for at least six months after the baby's birth, she knows they need to money, so doesn't complain. At the high school where she works her students were getting very excited about their teacher having a baby. And her colleagues as well.
Avy's colleagues organized a baby shower for her, and it really came as a surprise to her. She thought it was very sweet of them to do.
Raff and Avy have a hard time agreeing on names. They're now thinking about Fabian Hugo or Fabian Raven for a boy, and maybe Vianne Ravenna or Verona Vianne "Vera" for a girl, but nothing is certain yet.
It bothers Avy that Raff doens't seem to be very involved in how the baby is doing. He didn't want to come to her check-ups, didn't want to get involved preparing the room and he doesn't want to feel the belly when the baby is kicking. She knew it wasn't his choice to have a baby, but she had expected him to get more excited once he had gotten used to the idea. When her sister had been pregnant, her husband couldn't keep her hands of her belly and sometimes talked and sang her belly as well. She knew Raff would never do that and that made her sad.
Question #1: What do you think of the congrats so far?
- Yes I do :) I like story congrats, because it makes the family more 'real' to me. I also like that I don't know what will happen in the future, since you can control that. I like that there is no endless stream of kids (although more than 2 would be nice), because I think that makes it less realistic.
Question #2: What are the names of you're DH & DW's siblings?
