You'll never believe the story of our newest arrival! We're not sure how he arrived even now, but he showed up curled in a silver mixing bowl on our doorstep. Sari discovered him--at four, she loves to open the door and "check the weather"--and called to us that a baby was sitting there.
Sure enough, a little boy in what looked like a silver bowl--but it was large, so maybe it was more like a wok--with a very thin, silvery blanket and an odd little note. It was completely illegible--it looked as though it was written in a different alphabet, but not like one Rufus or I had ever seen before. The only recognizably English-looking word on it was JOURNEY.
Rufus and I could hardly leave the poor boy outside. We brought him and his mixing-bowl-basket inside, and Sari immediately asked us if he was her brother. It was odd; they do look a bit alike--they both have the same colouring. However, this little boy has narrower eyes that're extremely dark and very long fingers.
We couldn't bear leaving him to the foster-care system, and we hated the idea of giving him up after he came into our lives. And so we've kept him and named him Journey; it fit because not only did it say JOURNEY on the note he came to us with, he also must have come a long way to us--we've never seen anyone who looks quite like him.
His middle name, Celestine, is after mine, of course. But it also seemed to fit because we call him our baby dropped from the heavens. Sari dotes upon him, as do our other friends and relatives.
(The baby was dropped by aliens. He's half-human, half-alien, with an emphasis on the human.)

Get into the car
We'll be the passenger
We'll ride through the city tonight
See the city's ripped insides
We'll see the bright and hollow sky
We'll see the stars that shine so bright
The sky was made for us tonight
