(I'm kind of bored this evening)Greetings Everyone,With the Holiday Season fast approaching we thought it would be time to drop you a note/family essay in the Holiday cards. We're all well and hope you are the same. Leo, as you know is currently being kept busy at the hospital by all the tasks and chores that come along with his new role as a Chief Resident. It keeps him humble to know that when he gets home he still has to do the laundry.
My residency on the same note is going well and I seem to have made a place for myself in the Cardio-thoracic side of things, and I'm looking to see what kind of fields I can work with from there and if I want to specialize further. Together we try to alternate shifts (It's a lot harder now that he's Chief, but ours days off tend to work out well) and it works somehow so that we both spend plenty of time with the little man. Marcus, ever a joy, turned two this year and has become quite the brave little soul. He's practically a double for Leo at that age (his Mom confuses the baby pictures) He's currently interested with all things animals and has given both Leo and myself some scares recently proving his bravery (stubborness?), but he's made it worth it. His favorite pastime besides chasing down innocent creatures in the street to inspect is to be measured on the wall. He's determined to be as tall as "Daddy" within the year. Though he's sprouting like a weed I don't think he'll tower like Leo for atleast another decade. *grin* What currently keeps Marc happiest though is the newest family addition... We'd like everyone to meet, Hugo. A shaggy black Bouvier des Flandres pup. It wasn't really planned but the timing couldn't be any more perfect.Last month I was out in back field playing by the water with Marc (Leo was on-call) when a massive shaggy black dog came wandering from infront of the house. Thinking to be safe I reached to snag Marc and shuffle his little self inside but the little scamp was already tearing across the field. I reached him just as he reached the dog but the dog seemed pretty unfazed by the whole matter.
Long story short, that dog's name was Max. Max's owners' own a kennel and when a fence latch broke, before they could fix it, Max got out without his ID tags on.
Cut to two days later, Max is still with us while we await the microchip scanner from the Vet's to work. It's being fixed in a short while they say... Max as it turns out, loves kids. Marc, turning into a mini-houdini had somehow managed to get from his crib, over the dog gate to where we were keeping Max in the Den. Leo as it seems had also fallen head over heels with this dog.
By the third day, the scanner was fixed and we had found the owners who were going insane at this point and had tried every last option. They asked to come get Max right away and we agreed if slightly reluctantly. Let's face it, I loved the dog too.
We met the owners and made fast friends. They were amazed at how good Max was with kids and we decided to research further when a week later they've called to tell us that they knew we were mildly interested in a puppy but a full sibling to Max is available a.s.a.p, and because of what we did for Max, they'd skip the wait list. As an early Christmas gift to ourselves we agreed and Marc could not be anymore overjoyed with Hugo were it his latest request for a little brother...
Happy Holidays and We hope to hear from all of you with all your news in the New Year.
Love always,
Charlotte, Leo, Marcus and Hugo.
