We were very thrilled when we found out that we would be adopting quads! Having 4 babies is definatly different than having 2. When we told the family that we were adopting 3 girls and a boy; our sons were happy, because they wanted a new sibling, but also sad, becuase there used to be a balance between the girls and the boys. But now there are 2 more girls. But they were even more worried about the fact that they might eventually have to share a room with one or more of the girls. We live in a small 3 bedroom apartment. The bedrooms aren't really that big, and each have a bunk bed with a trundle bed under it (looks like http://www.bunkbedking.com/img/mountain-river-bunk-bed-trundle_xl.jpg).Master: Gabby, Tony
Bedroom 1: Rachel, Sophia, Sarah
Bedroom 2: John, Sam, Andrew
Livingroom: Harry, Zora, Becca, IvyWhen we first brought the quads home it was hard work. We had to get used to holding two to four infants at a time. When Tony/I'm isn't home Rachel helps me/him with them, while Andrew watches Sam, Sophia, Sarah, & John. Rachel will be going to middle school next year. She is scared that she may get lost, but I tell her not to worry. It's also good because she'll be home earlier to help me/Tony. The two sets of twins go to preschool. Sam & Sophie go Monday, Wedensday, & Friday. Sarah & Johnny go Tuesday and Thursday. Tony and I take turns having days off to watch them and hope that soon Grace, Joe, and Grammy will visit. But not even three months after bringing the quads home our apartment building caught on fire. It was a Friday night and aparently some neighbors had a party, got drunk, and left the stove on. When I heard the alarm I woke up Tony and he ran to wake up the girls. I ran to wake up the boys. I held Sarah on my hip and held Sophie on the other hip. Tony did the same (but slung John over his shoulder, and Sam on his hip). Rachel grabbed Becca and Ivy, and Andrew grabbed Harry and Zora. Then we all ran down the stairs. When we got to the bottom the fire fighters told us what happened. They gave us a couple of blankets. We sat there for a while, shocked at what happened. Finally a police officer came up to us and asked if we needed help. Tony said yes, and went with him, saying he'd be right back. About an hour later all the children had fallen asleep (on the sidewalk). Tony returned with a bunch of police officers each one of them picked up a child and walked away. I whispered to Tony "What's going on?" and he replied that they had gotten us a hotel room and they were going to help us carry the kids up there. So I ackwardly followed with Ivy in my arms. When we got up there they smiled and said good bye. We got to connected rooms. There were two queen beds in each room. They had also brought up two cribs. We slept like this.Room 1: Tony & Gabby in one bed, John & Sarah in one bed (Ivy & Becca in a crib)
Room 2: Andrew & Sam in one bed, Rachel & Sophia in one bed (Harry & Zora in a crib)The next morning we opened the door to find several grocery bags full of food and clothes. As it turns out those police officers didn't go straight home after leaving us. They collected money and then went to buy us supplies! I thought that was very generous. They also managed to save somethings from the apartment; the quad stroller, the twin stroller, a few toys/stuffed animals; some toys; and Alaska (the cat). That made me realize that i had forgot her! Unfortunatly the apartment became a tear down. Good thing we had house insurance. The neighbors (who caused the fire) felt bad and set us up at a nice hotel. They set us up in a three bedroom suite. In the main area was a pull out couch. And in each "bedroom" were two single beds, in the last there was a king sized bed. It was very nice, the only problem was that their were only two bathrooms for 12 people. On the main floor of the hotel their was a daycare, pool, gym, laundry room, restuarant, and all the other hotel basics. We rented 2 cribs and slept like thisMaster Bedroom: Sarah, Sam, Sophie, & John
