After Jack and I got back from our honeymoon, we talked about children right away. We decided to just be married for six months and then think about kids again. When our six month anniversary came around, we knew we were ready to take the plundge and try for our first baby! Lucky us-I took a pregnancy test after our first try and it came out positive! That night, I cooked his favorite dinner, lobster, It takes forever to make, so he knows that I am in a good mood when I make it for him. As he sat down to eat (I HATE lobster, so I had a lovely salad), I made a comment about how, this time next year, a crying three month old would prevent me from making it for him, would that be okay? He jumped and and hugged and kissed me all over, then knelt down and started rubbing my belly and telling Baby how much he loved him/her. It was so sweet! To tell our families, we went to my parents house with all my family for dinner that Friday. He brought two gift bags and said at dessert that they were thank you gifts to my parents for hosting the dinner. They opened them to find “I love my (Grandma or Grandpa” with a picture of our first ultrasound wrapped up inside! We told Jack’s parents the next night the same way and everyone was just so thrilled! We wanted to find out the gender, so, when the time came, I nervously went to the doctor’s appointment with him. I had a strong feeling we were having a girl, but didn’t want to say anything. Jack was sure that it was a girl and very loud about it. So, when the doctor said “It’s a girl!” we both screamed so loudly and smiled proudly at our daughter’s image. We even already knew her name (we’d been in aggrement since we’d started dating). Jack and I said together “Our little Lindsey Joy!” It was a great moment and I was a happy Mommy, as was Jack a happy Daddy!I was 42 weeks pregnant, HUGE, and very umcomfertable and Lindsey just didn’t want to come out! I was so so tired of being pregnant, but I’d resisted inducing her forever. I wanted everything to happen naturally. However, the doctor was telling me that, once I hit 20 days overdue, he’d really need to get Lindsey out! Right around this time, it was my mom’s birthday. I was expected to be bringing my daughter to the party, but I came still very pregnant and ended up having a long talk with my Aunt Betty, who is a little zany and crazy. Betty had three children and told me that the thing that got her labor started with my cousin Caycee was going swimming. I laughed it off-me, this pregnant, SWIMMING! However, two days later, I despretly preseuaded Jack to help my change into a very old bikini and get me into the pool. I floated around a little for about a half an hour, then got out feeling silly. But, an hour later, I started having contractions! So, Jack grabbed my bag, called the appropriete people and started towards the hospital. I was in labor for five hours and contractions were pretty horrible. I spent only 10 minutes pushing through-Lindsey was finally rready. She arrived, screaming and beautiful-shortly past 10 at night.I’ve been on cloud nine since Lindsey arrived. I love to just stare at her at home, watch her sleep and just enjoy her! Lindsey is a very easy going and happy baby-she is a good sleeper and eater. We spend our mornings and afternoons together running errands, doing housework, playing and taking pictures. Then, Daddy gets home in time for me to take some time to make dinner. We eat and then Jack does her bath and I lie down with her to go to sleep. Jack is a good Daddy and I am so happy to have this baby with him. I love our little family of Jack, Keara and Lindsey and am so excited to watch this little girl grow up!
