Sofia and Thaddeus were overjoyed to learn that they were expecting another child, and although they would have been happy as long as their baby was healthy, they were really hoping for a son. After all, Thaddeus was in line to inherit the throne of Ceylaria, and as the crown prince he was expected to produce an heir. Needless to say, Sofia gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. Any disappointment that might have been present quickly dissipated, and both realms heralded the arrival of the newest little royal with great pomp and fanfare. But the story behind Georgiana's name was considerably less happy. Just before her birth, her uncle, Prince David, then only sixteen years old, tragically passed away. He and his younger brother Pascal were vacationing on the coast when Pascal was caught in a riptide. David was able to get his brother to safer waters, but he himself was then dragged away by the strong current. By the time rescuers found him, he had already drowned. Umbresey mourned its lost prince for a solid two weeks, during which no celebrations of any kind were permitted. It was just after this period that Georgiana was born, and it seemed fitting that her name should honor her late uncle. The birth of his second grandchild seemed to put William in a somewhat more permitting mood. When his son Gabriel abdicated his right to the throne and married a commoner, William had considered exiling him to a faraway colony. But when Georgiana arrived, William inexplicably allowed Gabriel to retain his title of Duke, which he had received at birth. What is more, Amandine became a duchess. Their son Pierre (named after Pierre Renoir, in honor of Amandine's love for art) is not nobility and therefore cannot inherit the title of Duke, but he will be allowed to use the courtesy title of Lord.
