King William VI has had two sons in the past five years. They join Princess Sofia and Crown Prince James.
King: William Augustus James Leopold Henry VI (29)
--Queen: Aurelia Seraphina Octavia (deceased)
----Princess: Sofia Katharina Leonore (8)
----Crown Prince: James Algernon Leopold Alexander Henry (5)
----Prince: Gabriel Edmond Horatio William Octavian (3)
--Queen: Philippa Hannelore Kreszentia (18)
----Prince: David Moritz Sebastian George Augustus (nb)
Royal House: Courfeyrac
Kingdom: Umbresey
The entire kingdom, not to mention the king and queen, were absolutely shocked when Aurelia found herself pregnant again. After Prince James, she and William had resigned themselves to the fact that they would not have any more children. The realm of Umbresey rejoiced at the birth of a healthy boy, Prince Gabriel. Unfortunately, the delivery was too much for the queen to take, and she died without being able to hold her new son.
William was devastated with the loss of his beloved wife. He mourned for an entire year, only emerging from his quarters to see his children. The royal court was in upheaval, since the king was doing little to no governing. Eventually, to stave off certain civil war, William's advisers urged him to consider the possibility of remarrying. At first he vehemently rejected the idea, but his advisers warned him that should the people start looking for a new, stronger leader, the princes and princess would surely be caught in the crossfire. Frightened by this prospect, William agreed to begin negotiations regarding a royal marriage. Within a year he became engaged to Princess Philippa of the neighboring kingdom of Vallen. Philippa's father, King Ottokar XIV, was known for his great military might. The booming Umbresian economy, implicitly backed by the unstoppable Vallensian army, made for quite a formidable union. Both realms applauded the marriage.
With her pleasant demeanor and knack for diplomacy, the new queen quickly won over the hearts and minds of the Umbresian people. She cemented her good reputation when, less than a year after they were married, she gave William another son, David. David is also next in line for the throne of Vallen, as his grandfather has no brothers or surviving sons. William is determined not to differentiate between any his children, but nonetheless it is difficult for him to look at his eldest three without also seeing their mother in them.
