Re: You Say, You Think
“This is my daughter, Esther Clementine.”
You say: Oh, how cute!
You think: Quite old-fashioned... a nice change from Nevaeh!“This is my son, William Robert.”
You say: He's adorable! If I had another boy, William was at the top of my name list!
You think: Good, strong, classic name that will be cute on the child and great for the adult!“This is my son, Victor Rex.”
You say: Aww, isn't he cute...
You think: Victor is good - not my style, but strong and classic - Rex, however, just does nothing for me...“This is my daughter, Sarah Jessica.”
You say: Isn't she beautiful...
You think: Parker?“This is my son, Ryan Oscar.”
You say: Oh, look at him...
You think: The names are good, but don't seem to flow well...“This is my daughter, Willoughby-Kate. We pronounce it WILL-ah-bee.”
You say: Oh, look at that smile...
You think: I wonder just what they were thinking when they decided on that name for a girl!“This is my daughter, Emily Grace.”
You say: Wow, look at that hair!
You think: Sweet name... a bit popular, but still a really good name!“This is my son, Raphael Benjamin.”
You say: Ahh, how cute...
You think: I like the name... unusual without being unheard of - and I love Benjamin!“This is my son, Ethan August.”
You say: Wow, look at the length of those fingers... he's going to play piano just like his dad!
You think: Not a fan of Ethan, but there is nothing wrong with it... August is sort of growing on me...“This is my daughter, Alyx Matisse.”
You say: Wow, she's got big brown eyes!
You think: Why did they do that to a child? It could be worse, but still...
Overall - I wouldn't comment to the parents about the name unless they are asking or the comment is positive... I might ask how they chose the name in conversation... but I would keep my opinions to myself!
