Erik and Ylva have enjoyed raising their children, though only the youngest two girls still live at home.

In 1922, Karin met a man from Russia, and they fell in love. They were married late in the year--December 12th. Since marrying Taras, Karin has had two daughters, Katarina and Vira. Karin works as a part-time nurse and has her neighbors watch the girls. Taras also works full time in a clothing factory. The couple has moved to Pennsylvania instead of returning to Oregon like Karin wished.

Since getting married, Rike has had five children. She and Matthew are very overwhelmed, but they are coping with all of their children. Freja moved in with them last year when Rike found out she was expecting another baby to help out with everything.

Andy moved to northern California in 1923 and opened up a branch of Lindgren's there. Due to popular demand, he invited Sven down to work with him. Sven agreed, but wants to go to college to become a doctor next year. Andy is engaged to an aspiring actress named Minnie Shawlborn. Minnie has a son from a previous relationship named Sam. Andy really loves him, and can't wait until he can officially be Sam's father.

Johan and Jorgen are working full time with Erik to help him fulfill all the orders the furniture store is receiving. Neither one has much interest in girls. Jorgen talks about going back to Sweden and marrying a girl there, but Johan does not want to go. So, for the time being the twins will stay in Oregon.

Sven went down to California to work with Andy in mid 1923, and has stayed there for the past two years earning money. Next year, he plans to go to medical school in New York City to become a doctor. He wants to return to the West Coast and help people who have no access to medical care. His girlfriend in northern CA is a young girl named Betsy Foster. Sven and Betsy want to marry, but Sven is waiting until he finishes medical school to do anything permanent--plus, Betsy is only 15 at the moment.

Freja moved about ten minutes from the Lindgren household to help her older sister Rike out with her children and housework. Freja really loves children and wishes that she could have had more younger brothers or sisters to help Ylva care for.

Kristin and Elina are still living at home. They are rather spoiled, after having seven older siblings to leave home. Kristin wants to be a movie star someday, and Elina wants to sing on the radio.
