DH: Mark Russell (43)
DW: Linda Joanne (46)

DD: Alanna Nicole (7)
DS: Daniel Robert (4)
Mark and Linda Laing with their children Alanna and Daniel and Linda's daughters Michelle, Stephanie and Louise Robbins.
Mark is a bricklayer who has recently been laid off by the building firm he worked for and is currently looking for a new job up North where he's heard the building trade hasn't been as badly affected. This would mean he would have to stay up there during the week and come back on weekends which is not an ideal situation for the family, especially with Daniel being only 4, but they have to make ends meet. Linda is the manager of a popular hotel in town but even with her recent promotion and pay rise she can't keep the family afloat with those wages.
Michelle has recently broke up with her boyfriend of 7 years and had no choice but to move back in with her mum and step-dad. She is about to start a post-grad in high school education after years stuck in a job she hates. Stephanie on the other hand has a job at the local newspaper which she loves and her boyfriend proposed on Valentine's day. Linda thinks Stephanie is far to young to get married and has asked her to not give an answer yet, but to take her time and think seriously about it. Louise works in Tesco and has recently dropped out of college. She's unsure about where her life is going but is considering going abroad to work as a holiday rep. All three girls get on brilliantly with their younger siblings and their step-dad.
