It is a long, hard five years for Matt and Jen.
Even with life getting better and easier, the rift between them remained. Matt continued to scrounge up meager work until, under the suggestion of a good friend, he found work at a blacksmith's by the dock.
Jen's buisness continued to grow and, in 1912, they moved into their first small house. The children no longer had to share one room. Leo and Abe had one, Anneliese and Io the other.
They reconsiled in 1913 and because of it, later that year, Jenny became pregnant with twin boys. However, the celebration was short lived- in 1914, Mattias was recruted into WWI.
