James and Mathilde have had two more children, both boys: Adam in 1922, followed by Matthew in 1924. James wants to keep trying for a little girl, but Mathilde isn't so sure she can handle any more kids.
Eva broke off her engagement to Allen after she discovered that he had been seeing another woman and even had a secret family with her. A short time later, she met and married Julian Roscroe. They moved to Manchester, Julian's hometown. They now have three children: Ramona, Gerard, and Loren.
Grace has gotten engaged to Augusten Emerson, whose father is a wealthy banker in London. They plan to get married within a year.
Meanwhile, Charlie has begun seeing a girl named Caroline Coulter. He doesn't know yet if the relationship is serious, especially since Caroline is still in school, but he likes her a lot.
Jonathan, never really one to follow the rules, has gotten into a bit of trouble: his girlfriend Leah, three years older than him, got pregnant. At only fourteen, he became a father to a little girl, Cecilia. He loves his daughter dearly but has no intention of marrying Leah any time soon or getting a job to support either of them. David and Nora hope that he will take being a parent seriously and step up to take responsibility for his family.
