David began regretting all the war stories he had told his son in his youth, as James was positively clamoring to get in on the action. Thus in 1917, James left his family and shipped off to battle. While in stationed in France, James was severely injured and sent to the hospital. There met a nurse named Mathilde Perreault. The two bonded as James recuperated from his injuries, and they fell deeply in love after only weeks of knowing each other. When James was fully recovered, he was sent back into combat. He never expected to see Mathilde again, but nonetheless he returned to look for her once the armistice was signed in November 1918. He did succeed in finding her, but to his utter surprise, she was six months pregnant with his child. Their son, Jacob, was born a few weeks after James brought Mathilde back to England and married her. Since then, the two have welcomed another son, Nathaniel.Eva, meanwhile, has gotten engaged to an American businessman named Allen Tremblay. After the wedding, they intend to move to New York, which David and Nora strongly oppose.
