Shay (Shayna) and Jake (Jacob) are settling in beautifully. Shay is very shy, but loves reading aloud her stories to Bubbe (Dan’s mother, Ruth). She joined the children’s choir at our synagogue, and is quickly becoming the star. She and Dan love to sing together as well. She also loves playing with Shevi and Aliyah. Jake is much more outgoing; he and Eli (Elijah) have turned our small little backyard into a soccer field. He started violin lessons, and is doing fabulously.
Eli (Elijah) is trying to invent his own video game. While he isn’t doing that, he is busing playing soccer. He’s also thrilled with snow, for he’d never seen it before.
Aliyah is slowly growing to trust us, and is picking up English words remarkably fast.
Rayna is an adorable baby, but we have renamed her Elisheva Rayna so that her name doesn’t rhyme with her big sister’s. Shevi, as she is now called, is a constant delight. We can’t wait to watch her grow up.

Antoine Robbe is a sixteen-year-old boy from Belgium. He speaks French and some English, because his mother was English. Both of his parents are now dead. He likes animals, drawing and comic books. Antoine is bisexual and also partially deaf, so he wears a hearing aid.
Megan Marie is a five-year-old girl from Aberdeen, Scotland. She is asthmatic and was abused by her parents. She is very shy, and likes animals, colouring, dancing and the colour pink.
Isaac Andile is a four-year-old boy from Zimbabwe. His mother died from AIDs and his father gave him up for adoption because he wanted him to have a better life. Isaac speaks English and loves toy cars, stuffed animals and music.
Chipo Tendai is a newborn girl from Zimbabwe, and is Isaac's younger sister. Her father gave her away for the same reason he gave up Isaac. Chipo has no interests yet and cannot talk yet.

Tony (as we've taken to calling Antoine) is a very sensitive and creative boy. He's a pleasure to live with and is so considerate of others. We're so glad that he is now a member of our family.
Meg is doing very well. She's speaking to a councillor about her abuse and is doing very well with it. Her doctor has also given her some excercises to do to help with her asthma. She's also thrilled to have two big sisters who love pink every bit as much as she does!
Isaac and Chipo are also fantastic. They both love to listen to rock music and dance about together (Chip is doing great at walking now), singing along to the lyrics. They have a very special bond due to being biological siblings that we're keen to nurture but they also get on wonderfully with the other children.
Sasha has been a bit of a struggle but we feel that we're the right people to help her. We asked her whether she wanted to see a councillor to which she responded she didn't. Instead we spend plenty quality time with her every day, plyaing guitar and watching movies together. Martha and Sasha have been going to guitar lessons together whilst Jake and Sasha attend a local Russian club where Jake is learning Russian and Sasha can talk to others in her native language.
She recently welcomed a daughter into the world, a little angel called Nina. Having her has changed her for the better and we've noticed her become much less flighty. She now acknowledges that for Nina's sake she must remain in the one place.
