Princess Isabel was a few months old when the queen became pregnant again. James would have been perfectly happy with either a girl or a boy, but he knew he needed to have a son in order to continue the royal line. Plus, the people of Vanitano-Umbreca were growing restless waiting for an heir to the throne. Thus, there was palpable disappointment when Princess Elizabeth arrived shortly after Isabel's first birthday. To be sure, James and Violetta were in love with their little girl, but without a von Talvio son the situation was becoming unstable. Now James is thinking of amending the constitution so that a daughter can inherit the throne, but this may change if he gets the long-awaited boy soon.
