Don Hathaway is a famous actor. He had a breakdown at 30 and decided to retire from the public eye, which is why the family moved out from LA to 'millionaire' Heights, Connecticut. When they lived in LA Miranda was a hairdresser to the stars, now she has decided to pen a book about her life with her husband and her salon. The kids are enrolled at a local private school. Austin wants to grow up to be an actor like his dad, while Morgan is quite happy being the little princess just now.

Stanford Welsley is a lawyer and senior partner of the Mitchell & Welsley law firm. He may have inherited a place there from his grandfather, who started the firm, but he IS a good lawyer and works hard to make sure he earns his position as senior partner. Divine is from France and misses her homecountry often. To her America is completely uncultured and she spends most of her time at the spa or local country club. Despite the major differences in their personalities and habits, Stanford and Divine have a very loving relationship and a solid marriage. The children attend a prestigious school in New York city where they are chauffeur driven each day. It is hard to imagine just how the Welsley family would cope without their wealth.
