In 1917, a few things happened to the family that were quite important. First, they welcomed another child, a girl named Vivienne Sibyl. Then, Edward’s boss said they wanted to open another Walgreens in the next state—and they wanted Edward to run it. Of course, Edward accepted, but this meant the family had to leave their home in Illinois.
However, the house had a lot of sentimental value—Edward’s brother Henry had helped him build it, and fourteen babies had been born in that house. The family wanted to keep it. So, Sky and Leo, at the ages of 17 and 16, stayed behind and looked after the house. Both of them tried to continue going to school as well, doing odd jobs before and after class.
Ethel missed her two boys tremendously, and wrote them letters almost every day. And Sky and Leo did their very best to write back.
After they got settled in Wisconsin, Ethel gave birth to another daughter, Maude Celestine.
And just this year, 1920, Ethel had another child, Abram Lindsey. There were some complications with his birth, and Edward and Ethel will not likely have any more children. However, Ethel got a letter from Sky, saying he is now engaged to a girl from Chicago, Faye Helene. Now, Ethel is simply looking forward to having grandchildren.
Edward and Ethel’s eighteen: Sky, Leo, Thomas, Ava, Jenny, Griffin, Hunter, Zoe, Grace, Ashley and Sofia, Asa, Zeke, Kendall and Susannah, Vivienne, Maude, and Abram.
