It's been another five years. Four years ago I met Jamie, as he called himself. We were very close friends and it took five months until I acutally found out his real name. He had told me that it wasen't Jamie and it wasen't James. It was Benjamin. Two and a half year ago we got married. I never thought I would met someone new after John!

When Benjamin got closer to my kids we all started to feel that it was confusing with him being called Jamie and my son being caleld James, sometimes Jamie by his friends. Therefore, we all call Jamie his full name now. The kids love him and Benjamin children, Samuel and Rebecca, is a lovely addition to our family and we now can't wait until we are having our first child together.

However the world war started last year. We are all afraid Of the future now. Will we all survive? William turns 18 in three years. Will the war be over by then or will he have to fight in it? I surely hope that the war ends long before that.

1912: Mary and Charles welcomed their second set of twins. Mary finally gave birth to a daugther, after having 9 boys. Their little princess was named Mary Alice after Mary's mother and they call her Alice. Mary and Charles are pretty sure they are done having children.

Three years ago, Catherine's sister and brother-in-law both died in the horrible sinking of the Titanic. Catherine's sister, Agnes and her husband, Joe, had three boys. Jack, age 11, Peter age 10, and Jesse age 7. Ben and Catherine decided to adopt the boys.

Also, in the last few years, Catherine had two more children: William Paul and Alice Genevieve. Will is now 4 and Alice is 3.

World War I has broken out and Harry has had some thought about joining. He is too young to go now.

1911: Rose gave birth to twins Ralph & Louis. Unfortunetly, the same night he was born, Louis was too small and didn't survive through the night.

1912: Rose's sister, Ruby and her husband Wilfred II "Freddie", died tragically while aboard the Titanic. Ruby and Freddie were visiting his parents in England and coming back aboard the Titanic to their home in the United States. Ruby and Freddie left their 3 young children in the care of Rose and Jack; Mary-Beth (6), twins Ruth and Helen (3) and little Wilfred III "Willy" (1).

1913: Rose gave birth to a healthy baby girl, Norah.

1914: Rose gave birth to a healthy baby boy, Peter. World War I has started, and Thomas wants to enroll in the army after his 16th birthday. Rose is very scared that by this time the United States will be participating in the war.

Jack & Rose have added a new 3-room attachment to their small home for their ever-growing family. The house is still much too small for a family of 21 but things are going good. The three eldest boys have quit school to work on the farm with their father. Since then, the family has much more food and they have been able to sell extras at the nearby market for some extra money. All the other children, except the 5 youngest are in school and doing great. Rose is teaching Anna many things like how to sow, cook and clean.

The outbreak of war in Europe put a serious damper on Joseph's shipping business. Even though the United States was officially neutral, the seas were dangerous places for American vessels -- especially merchant ships sailing into European ports. Luckily Joseph had enough saved up (he was one of the wealthiest men in New England, after all) that his family wasn't too adversely affected by the loss in business.

But the Northams did not altogether escape tragedy. In May 1915, Grace's brother and his family were traveling on the RMS Lusitania when it was sunk by German submarines off the coast of Ireland. It was a devastating blow to Grace and her two older boys, Jack and James, who started longing for the US to join the war. They themselves became war-hungry: they wanted to go to England, enlist with the British, and fight in Europe. Of course, they were far too young, and Joseph and Grace would never allow them to do so.

The outbreak of war in 1914 did not have as great an affect on the Sutherlands as it did with the rest of their families. While Robert's only brother, and two of Grace and Elizabeth's brothers were sent to fight for their country, Robert remained behind. In 1912 he had found more permanent work at a shipyard further up the Clyde, in Clydebank, where warships were built and with the onset of war the urgent need for more warships meant that Robert was needed to stay and help with the building rather than fight.

1912 was also the year in which the rest of the Sutherland family moved to the Glasgow area to join Robert. They settled in Clydebank in a house far smaller than the one they had previously lived in, Robert told the children it was *cosy*, not small... Catherine was now almost always in good spirits because she could finally be with her husband for more than half a year! This eased Elizabeth's mind because it meant that Robert would have to be home every night and he too seemed to become a different, and better, person now that his family was with him once more. Elizabeth moved out in 1913, feeling that the family could now cope on their own and no longer needed her help.

In 1915, just after her brothers were sent to war, Catherine gave birth to a son, John Malcolm, whom she named after her brave brothers. Robert and Catherine were overjoyed at the new arrival, as were the other children. Margaret Rose meanwhile was now no longer living with the family as she had been sent to live with her Grandparents in Edinburgh in 1911 in hopes of giving her a better education and chance to become part of the higher society Catherine had enjoyed being a part of in her youth. The younger children were all enrolled in school, though James often missed classes which conflicted with his job at the local cotton mill. As such his standard of education was not as good as the others, a fact his father didn't seem to think was a big issue. Bobby meanwhile was fitting in brilliantly with the family and really looked up to his big brother James.

In the past five years, Robert and Lisbeth have been raising their family. In 1913, an orphan train came through Decatur. Robert and Lisbeth decided that they had more than enough funds to raise an orphaned child in their home. They chose to adopt Julia Florence Fisher. Julia was twelve years old, and seemed very much in need of someone to love her. The kids welcomed her into the family immediately, and Julia is very thankful that the North family adopted her, but she is chosing to remain Julia Fisher.

It is 1915. Robert is busy keeping up with news from the Great War going on in Europe. He and Lisbeth are hoping that it does not spread to the United States as well. His practice in Decatur is thriving, and Robert has trained a few other young men who are setting up practices in nearby cities and towns. Robert eventually hopes to establish an Illinois headquarters either in Decatur or in Chicago. Lisbeth has been busy helping out with women's charity organizations and teaching Sunday School as well as entertaining anyone and everyone at the family's lovely brick home. Bobby is now fifteen. He will complete school next year, and plans to continue in his father's footsteps and work at the law firm. Julia is fourteen, and in the two years that she has lived with the North family, she has worked her way into their hearts. She has lots of good homemaking skills, and finishes school in three or four years. Julia's aspirations in life are to get married and be a good wife and mother. Edward is ten. He idolizes his big brother and father, but doesn't plan on being a lawyer like them. He is much more soft spoken, and Lisbeth thinks that he will probably become a preacher. Charlie is nine. He and Edward are together almost all the time, despite their opposing personalities.

The year is now 1915 and a lot has happened in the family and in the. In Europe the Great War started, but since the Hamiltons live in the United States none of their children have had to go to war. The Titanic sank also, but none of the Hamiltons.

In the last five years the Hamiltons had four more children. First in 1914 they welcomed a little girl who they named Margaret Louise. Two years later they welcomed another little girl who they named Lillian Glayds. Ruth had wanted to give her daughter the first name Glayds but William didn't like it and preferred Lillian. One year after that the Hamiltons had identical twin boys, who they named Joseph Ralph and Raymond Jack.

Also recently Ruth found a baby boy outside their door with a note that said "Please take care of my son, Roy David." The note was unsigned. Ruth asked William if he knew anything about this note and this baby and he claimed he did not. Ruth and William than asked people around the nearby town if they knew about the baby and they also did not. After much searching for the parents Ruth and William ended up adopting the boy.

In 1912, two years after Ashley and Sofia were born, Ethel gave birth to another son, Asa. The family was overjoyed. And since the addition had been built on the house, space was not an issue with another child.
