Mae = May, just modified the spelling, hope that's ok.

Well...
Okay, as long as you don't change the sound of the name. So no variant forms! But Mae is fine because it still sounds the same.
For example: if you chose Elizabeth, you could change the spelling to Elisabeth but you couldn't change it to variant form Elsbeth or Elspeth, ect.
Hint: You can use variant forms as nicknames though!!! :)
