Shukran!
It's been a year.Hassan is much happier. He loves Ismet and Sayyid and plays with them a lot. We have gotten used to his lack of a hand. It turned out to be his left hand, which he didn't write with, that he lost. Hassan is especially close to Sayyid because he is around the same age as his deceased brother Ismael.Aisha opened up to all of us very quickly and tells jokes all the time. She loves when the older girls come to visit. She also takes religious classes often and attends the mosque with us when the others are unwilling to go.Omar now has plenty of books, since we have a considerable collection of them, and he reads them all the time. His ability to be high and mighty was a concern. Now he is less arrogant and has lost his bombastic tone. He has learned all about the history of the Middle East. His debates can put everyone to sleep, though.Rashid contacts his family regularly and we plan to visit them soon. He is feeling happy to be with Sayyid, who talks to him all the time and helps him walk. Rashid also learned to swim with us and enjoys the beach. He is glad to have brothers to relate to - most of Rashid's biological siblings are female."Shukran" means thank you in Arabic.
