Can you believe it? Three years have passed by already! Amelia & Christian are still living in Philly. Christian completed seminary and is now a pastor at an inner city church. He is loving every minute of it! Little Kindred is already four years old and is quite smart for his age. He is really looking forward to starting school next year. Amelia has tried to convince him to come to dance with her (she teaches dance), since he is so full of energy. But he looked up at her and said, "Mommy, I don't wanna be a dancer. I wanna be a football legend!"
Emelie & Landon are still in Virginia doing music therapy and teaching music at the high school. Landon has started bringing home some of his more troubled students for dinner occasionally. This has made a huge impact on those children's lives. Especially since most of them come from broken families...they love being a part of a family that loves and respects each other, even if it is only for one meal. Jude loves having these older kids around. He feels so special when they want to play with him! After all, what kid doesn't want to feel more grown up than they are?
The biggest news over the last three years has been the marriages of the triplets. We'll start with Kate, the youngest of the three. Kate, during the fall semester of her senior year at NYU, studied fashion design in Paris! This was a dream come true. She figured she would have to settle for Italy, China, or Spain to study fashion since the Parisian program only accepted five new interns. Bill & Bailey always knew she had exceptional talent in designing clothes, but Kate didn't know how she'd compare with other applicants from around the globe. (Plus, they are her parents so they have to say that, right?) Well, you already know the conclusion...she was one of the five chosen in the world for this prestigious internship at the world's capital of fashion! While she was there, she had many opportunities to visit top designers of the city and show them her portfolio. This gave them connections and the possibility of being hired upon graduation. One of these designers was Sébastien Delacroix. He was extremely interested in her portfolio, but was more interested in Kate herself. He called her that night and asked her out for dinner. Kate agreed to it, thinking it had to do with a possible job. Sébastien told her his feelings for her (European men typically are not afraid to be this bold). Kate was completely shocked, but she thought he was exquisitely handsome with his strong jaw line, deep green eyes, black hair, and muscular body. They began to date and by the end of the internship, she was pregnant! Bill & Bailey were not too pleased about this. First of all, Sébastien was 30 and Kate was only 21. Secondly, they had raised their children to wait until marriage for sex. The week before Kate was to return to the states, Sébastien told her that he had an opening available for her. "Would you be willing to take the position of my wife?" he asked. Kate was ecstatic! He then proceeded to tell her that he really had a career opening too. He wanted her to open her own line of fashion in his own company Delacroix Desires. He told her that she could move into his mansion right away and needn't return to the states. She agreed and seven months afterwards, the family flew to Paris for the wedding of the city...Mr. and Mrs. Delacroix. They had twins named Emmanuel Damien and Emma Désirée. And Kate's clothing line called Serenity is a huge hit in Paris.
In the meantime, Anna met Caleb. Her roommate Ashlee introduced them. Ashlee knew Caleb since freshman year at Penn State and they became fast friends. She just knew that Anna and Caleb would hit it off...and they didn't. They were too much alike. They could never agree on anything. They tried to be friends, but it just wasn't working. Still, everyone that saw the two of them together predicted they would end up marrying...there was too much tension between them for them not to fall in love. Anna was embarassed to tell her parents the moment when they finally fell in love...they were arguing and yelling at each other (what they usually did) when the argument kept escalating and before they knew it they kissed. The two of them stepped back in shock and Caleb timidly said, "I guess they were right." And they have been madly in love ever since. They married the Christmas of their senior year. A year later, twins Elijah David and Abigail Elizabeth were born. The names were taken from some favorite characters in the Bible.
As for Lauren, her dream was to make it on Broadway someday. Throughout her senior year at NYU, she was auditioning for show after show and for national tours. Two weeks after her graduation, she received a phone call that she was going to be the understudy for Elphaba in Wicked's national tour! On the tour was Derek Whitacre who was playing the role of Fiyero. They soon fell in love. When they arrived in Philadelphia, Lauren was scheduled to be Elphaba for a couple performances; and there was one night in particular that her entire family was coming to see her. That night, in the Grimmerie (the spellbook Elphaba uses), Derek put a post-it note on one of the pages asking "Will you marry me, Lauren? --your Fiyero" When the Wizard handed her the book, he had it open to that page. Lauren was shocked, but being the actress she is, she didn't let it mess her up. She used the excitement to work as the excitement of Elphaba getting the spellbook. At intermission she tried to find Derek to talk to him, but she never did. During their duet "As Long As You're Mine", she wanted to whisper yes to him but was afraid the mics would pick it up. The show went extremely well, but it seemed like such an agonizing wait for Lauren to come to the end of the show. At the curtain call, Derek came forward and told the audience that he had asked someone in the cast a very important question. He reached for Lauren's hand and pulled her to the front of the cast. Then, he got on his knee and pulled out a beautiful engagement ring. Lauren nodded her head and managed to say yes in between tears of joy! That will be one performance she'll never forget! She even said that no Broadway performance could ever exceed that first day she had the chance to be Elphaba. Lauren & Derek now have twins: Jason Stephen (named after their two favorite musical composers Jason Robert Brown and Stephen Sondheim) and Cadence Serena (named after a musical term and the fact that they are peacemakers). Since that tour, Derek has been Fiyero (Wicked) and Warner Huntington III (Legally Blonde) on Broadway and currently is Bert in Mary Poppins (on Broadway). Lauren's Broadway debut came with the role of Eponine in Les Miserables. She has been a stay-at-home Mom since the birth of her children.
Gabriela just graduated from Penn State with a degree in Spanish. Her plans are to get her masters in teaching English as a Second Language. She is dating Oliver Warren. Felicity took a year off after graduation, then a year of classes at a community college. She applied to attend the Debbie Allen School of Dance and is still waiting to hear back from them. In the meantime, she will go to NYU for dance. Madelyn, Hannah, and Selah are the only three at home now. But it is so exciting to see how the children have grown up.
