Iris was shocked to discover that she was pregnant. It wasn't planned at all, especially when they were both at real high-points in their careers. Iris broke the news to Gabriel tentatively, but she was surprised by his reaction, which was one of joy.
As Iris is disabled, they worried about the implications on her health, along with the child's, and they also worried how they would look after the child as Gabriel is often away from home for work.
Iris had a complicated pregnancy, but once they found out the baby was healthy, the couple started to relax a bit. Iris can always work from home, and Gabriel has made a studio space for her. His employers have also been good in that he is only going to be writing on local pieces while they settle into family life.
The birth went well, with Gabriel by his wife's side when they welcomed baby Callan Tirian into the world. The couple wanted to choose a name which reflected their son's personality (Callan means 'powerful in battle' in Gaelic, and Tirian means 'kind and gentle' in Welsh) as he was a fighter, but they also wanted him to have a gentle side.
The family have settled into a nice routine, and are managing themselves at the moment. Luckily, because both of their careers are going so well, they know they can afford help if they need it.
