Whilst out playing in the square near Charlotte and Jakob's interior design shop and under the watchful gaze of big sister Thea, little Violet found two little puppies, tied together and abandoned behind a bin. The Lockharts took the poor little creatures to a nearby animal shelter who said they would try and find the owners. A fortnight later they called back to say they hadn't found the dogs' home and that the dogs would now be put up for adoption. Jakob and Charlotte knew what to do straight away. They adopted the dogs and named them Heidi and Birgitta "Gitte".
