Fifteen-year-old Tonia LaRoche Johnson was nine months pregnant and was living on streets. One day she stole a newspaper from a cafeteria and read an article about a local couple, Atheleisia and Edward Drake, who had two adopted children. A week later Tonia gave birth to a baby girl, alone in abandoned car. Tonia had no intention to keep the baby. She remembered the couple in the newspaper article, and decided to leave the baby on their doorstep.
When Atheleisia and Edward came home with their children, they saw a newborn baby on their doorstep. Baby was not looking healthy, and Atheleisia decided to take it to a hospital. Edward called the police. The police was able to find the baby's mother, 15-year-old Tonia LaRoche Johnson, who told that she didn't want the baby and hoped that the Drakes would adopt her. The baby had some health complications because her biological mother had been drinking heavily during the pregnancy. Atheleisia and Edward visited the baby in the hospital several times, and they realized how much they cared about her. When the baby was released from the hospital, Atheleisia and Edward decided to adopt the baby and named her Delina May.
Aurelia and Emil have adopted too. The welcomed 5-year-old Arun and his 3-year-old brother Kiran from India.
