Curls is a high school Biology teacher. She met Karl at a conference for teachers - he teaches Literature at another high school and is also an aspiring author. Martha basically bumped into him and made him spill his coffee all over himself. She offered to buy him another one - and the rest is history. After a year of marriage, Curls gave birth to little Kaj (who was named after his father) and Clara Elissa, who was actually named after Martha's childhood best friend Clarissa, who passed away while they were in high school.
The twins (the latest set, that is!) had just turned a year old when something odd happened. Isabella and Viviana were visiting with their families and Johnny's girlfriend and Kat and Hugo were having a nice dinner when they heard the doorbell ring. Johnny went to see who was there, but after a while, he came back with what seemed to be a small pink and white satchel. To everyone's surprise, he showed that there was a baby inside! The baby had nothing with her except for a blanket and a note saying she was being given for adoption. Kat and Hugo couldn't bring themselves to take the baby to an orphanage, so they decided she would stay for the night. The baby started crying and Johnny tried to quiet her - he has a lot of practice with 10 siblings - but he wasn't successfull. So he passed her to the closest person at the time - his aunt Bella. The little girl fell asleep peacefully. The baby stayed at Kat and Hugo's house that night. The next morning, Bella and Shawn appeared at their house saying that they wanted to adopt the baby! They had been thinking of having more children lately, and adoption was an option on the table. They thought that that baby girl had appeared in their lives as by miracle. So they legally adopted her and Emerson Kaitlyn was welcomed by her parents, siblings Helena, Lux, Jonas and Eva, her grandparents, and her many aunts, uncles and cousins!
