--No naming rules this roundThe Thoresen, Bonner, McPherson, Bush, and Conner families recently held a family reunion at Grandpa Matt and Grandma Faith's large house in Ohio. Everybody was able to catch up with each other, and the siblings enjoyed getting to see their siblings as well as their new nieces and nephews. Matt and Faith decided to coordinate the whole thing after Elijah and Bobby's college graduation and get the family all together again, at least for a few days. It turned out that everyone was available to come for a whole week in the summer. Matt rented a large inflatable pool and some outdoor games while Faith browsed yard sales and picked up toys for all the grandkids to play with. It was almost like a second Christmas! Matt and Faith's house has eight bedrooms, so after much finagling, it was decided that Emily and Micah's family would get two bedrooms; Siran and Peter's family would get two bedrooms; Rachel and Alan's family would get one; Izzy and Noah's family would get one; the three younger boys would share a room; and Matt and Faith would keep their master bedroom. It was a stretch fitting all thirty of them in one single house, but they had so much fun that it didn't really matter. Emily and Micah live only about two hours from Matt and Faith, but it was far enough that they stayed overnight for the reunion. Their eldest, Victoria, traveled with the Bonner's from England and there was much rejoicing when all of them arrived. Victoria is a sophomore in college, studying international business. Bella has much to say about her horseback riding and how she's won some blue ribbons in local shows. Emily and Micah are thinking about leasing her a horse until she goes to college. Lachlan was full of stories about the family's trip to Scotland last summer. He enjoyed it a lot and plans to move there when he is old enough. The twins Tommy and Eddy talked about the latest video games with their three bachelor uncles. Poor Maddie was a bit overwhelmed by all the people around and stuck close to Emily's side all week. Mary, on the other hand, loved all the attention she was getting and she made lots of new "cousin friends", especially within the McPherson family. Siran and Peter flew in from England and enjoyed seeing everyone for the first time in several years (except the Bonner brood, who had visited them over the summer). Sierra, who is 10, now considers herself an adult and basked in the conversation of all her aunts and uncles for the week. Kyle was a bit overwhelmed by all the people--he hadn't known that Siran had this many relatives! By the second day however, he had taken a shine to Maddie Thoresen, his sort-of cousin. Paul and Olivia buddied up with Mary immediately and the trio had grand adventures in the backyard all week long. And Siran's newest baby, Selah Maral, was fussed and awed over, being only three and a half months old. Selah slept most of the week and completely ignored the commotion around her. Rachel and Alan came over early from California, bringing their triplets along. Sophie, Sarie, and Matty can be quite a handful--and the reunion was no different. They tagged along after Paul, Olivia, and Mary, getting into all sorts of trouble. Thankfully, Kyle and Maddie helped to entertain them. Izzy and Noah had taken up residence in eastern Pennsylvania. They came, along with their year-old twins Jason and Beth. Both of the children are very adorable, even though Beth was born with Down Syndrome and Jason has some mental delays. Izzy has decided that taking care of her children is more important than teaching gymnastics, so she has left that to Noah and helps out only when the kids are taken care of.Jonny, Elijah, and Bobby all graduated from college this past May. Jonny and the band immediately started touring again, after they had released a hit album. Elijah has not found work yet, and has returned home for the summer to relax before looking for a job in September. Bobby, graduated from seminary, has found a church in Oklahoma willing to hire him as a youth pastor. He has accepted and started there five weeks after the reunion. Elijah kind of misses having his twin around (especially after those four years of college) and is thinking about looking for a job in the Oklahoma area.
