Nova’s older sister died in a car crash. Do you adopt her five-year old son?
Nova had always known her elder sister was trouble. She got pregnant in her teens - nobody knew who the father was but her parents supported her. She was caught dealing drugs in her high school but escaped with only a warning. That was what Nova was used to. That was what Aniston was used to. Whenever she was in trouble somebody would bail her out. However, all that changed when the girls parents died. Suddenly Aniston had nobody to turn to and it didn't come as a shock when Aniston turned up on William and Nova's doorstep one icy night. She was crying and didn't make sense - one thing she managed to make extremely clear was that she no longer could cope with her little son, Liam. Despite Nova's protests that Aniston shouldn't be driving in such slippery conditions and when she was so upset, Aniston took off into the night. The very next morning Nova woke to the police knocking on her door. Her sister had been drunk and had lost control of her car.
William and Nova knew instantly what they must do. Liam needed a home, he needed love and attention. So, like Wyatt and Gracie had done years before when Wyatt's best friend and William's father had died, the couple took in Liam and loved him as their own. Liam has adapted surprisingly well to his new family life in the suburbs as opposed to his life with his tempestuous mother, however, he misses her terribly and will long for her eternally.
