Re: MS's Superhero Congrats - step #2

Miles (soldier) Arthur (after King Arthur) Wyman ("war protection")
Miles always knew he was a little bit different. He didn't see any outward difference between him and the other kids, but it always seemed to him that he had some extra protection that the other kids did not possess. Like any boy, Miles was rambunctious and always out playing hard. He remembers numerous times when he should have gotten hurt, but only received a surface wound--the time he fell 13 feet from a tree and only bruised his arm, the time he fell off his bike and wasn't wearing a helmet, but only had a slight headache, and of course, the time he knew he was different--the time he was riding his bike and got hit by a pickup truck. Miles was rushed to the hospital, but suffered no internal injuries or concussion at all--just a few scrapes and abrasions. Doctors could not fathom how Miles had survived the impact, let alone how he was walking out of their hospital nine hours later. They decided that it had been a medical miracle. Miles knew otherwise. He had seen the truck coming and, just before it hit him, he had felt himself harden up a bit on the inside, just below the skin. After he had hit the ground, the feeling went away. Miles has never told anyone about that incident and what he experienced, but he figures that if he can't be fatally injured, then he should probably go into some dangerous field.
First Miles tried crab fishing--a dangerous job. He stayed on the boat for almost two years, but then decided it wasn't for him. When he was almost 20, he decided to try being a police officer, but he decided that the job was mostly boring and only mildly exciting when they went out after criminals--Miles spent most of the time answering phones, directing traffic, and handing out tickets to speeders. He worked as a police officer for a quick three years. Miles' newest venture is breaking and traininig horses. He has found that the job is pretty dangerous and has been kicked and bitten several times in his seven months of working. Miles has decided that racehorses are the way to go. He also decided that, if there was ever a war, that he could fight with minimal risk to himself--so he signed up for the Army reserves.
Miles and Kestrel met pretty much by accident. Miles was in the hospital because his boss insisted that he go to the ER after getting trampled by a horse. Miles, unhurt, wandered around the hospital for a little while, pretending he was looking for a patient. Kessie was on a break when Miles wandered into the staff room. At first Kessie told him to go away, but he was so personable and friendly that she found herself attracted to him. They parted ways when Kessie's 15-minute break hit the half-hour mark. Kessie told herself that Miles was a great guy but, like the few other men she had allowed herself to fall for, he would drop her like a hot potato when he found out about her magnetic abilities.
Miles was very taken with Kessie and thought she would make a great date. Miles, rarely serious, didn't date girls because he wanted to marry them, but rather he dated them because it was fun. He figured that eventually he'd end up marrying a girl, but that thought was far from his mind. Before he knew it, Miles had contrived a way to get back to the hospital the following day without arousing his boss' suspicion. He told his boss that the hospital had released him, but needed him to come back for a follow-up appointment the next day. So, Miles went back to the hospital in search of Kessie.
Kessie was surprised to see Miles again, but she was working with a patient and couldn't get free to talk to him. Miles sat down in the waiting room and waited until Kessie's lunch break. They went to the hospital cafeteria, since Kessie didn't want it to be too romantic. Miles stated that he wanted to go out with Kessie, but before Kessie answered she told him about her magnetic abilities. She was shocked when Miles only smiled and said, "I like different." And with those three words, Kessie agreed to date a man she hardly knew.
Two years later, Miles and Kessie were married. Both know of the other's power, but they have agreed not to talk about it. Kessie does wonder however, if their children will have special abilities like her and Miles or if they are just an anomaly.
So, here's my current family:
LN: Wyman
DH: Miles Arthur (26)
DW: Kestrel Magnesia (Maxwell) "Kessie" (26)
So Miles and Kessie don't really have aliases, but if they're required, I'll make them up in a future round. :)

Great story. Having an alias is completely your choice :)
