(If the teenage mother was adopted 2 years ago, she didn't have a child yet! And if that was the second event, Hugo would still be away when she was adopted... I tried to work the story to fit this. Plus, I have a suggestion: could vary more on the namebanks? It feels like I don't really have options now, especially with the girls' names! Thanks ;)
Hugo worked as volunteer in a local shelter for negleted and street children, when he heard about Viviana's case. Viva spent most of her life in foster homes, until one day she ran away with a boy she had met at school. She was in love with him and thought he loved her too, but when she got pregnant he ran out on her. She ended up with no place to live, alone and carrying a baby! She even thought about taking her life at one point, but she couldn't help but to keep holding on, much more because of the baby than because of herself. But with the help of the counselors at the center she got to terms with what had happened - and especially Hugo, who told him about how he and Kat had to struggle so much, having six children when they were so young, and losing two of the babies. Both Kat and Hugo were so moved by Viva's story and courage that they decided to adopt her. Viviana struggled with the choice of keeping the baby or not, but because she was embraced by such a warm family, with the help of her new parents she decided to keep her baby. And so Johnny came into their lives!
The political status of their country was very shaky when they adopted Viviana, and the insecurity was felt by all. Until one day, the worst happened: war was declared for their country. Hugo, as all young men, had done the mandatory military service when he was 18. And in this dark scenario, he was sent away on a three year mission. There was a media turmoil - it was Kat Way's husband going to war! Still, Kat was devasted. Hugo kept trying to calm her, tell her three years would go by in no time, but all she could think was that three years was half of their older kids' life. How would she be able to take care of ten children on her own, without the man she loved by her side? Hugo didn't want to cry in front of his family, but he couldn't help but to shed a few tears when he was kissing Sarah and Selwyn goodbye. Kat kissed her husband goodbye, her heart burning because a voice in her mind told her it might be the last time. She knew that he would be counting the days until it was time to return home, as would she and the rest of the family.
