Shae and Starla turned and waved at all the people of the small African Village as the helicopter went up into the sky to take them to an airplane to go home. They had been doing mission work in Africa while their kids stayed in the US with his parents. Shae turnded to Starla "Did you have fun?" he asked with a dorky smile on his face. Starla nodded"But I feel sorry for all the poor kids and family's there." Shae closed his eyes for a moment then opened them again. "I feel the same way"he confessed. Starla looked at him."You know..We've been trying to have kids for almost 4 years now." he nodded. "And adopting a child would really help a kid that needs a loving family."she edged. Shae nodded again "We can adopt a kid." he said after much thought. Starla excitedly threw her arms around his neck and kissed him. "We're here"the pilot said.
"You're adopting a kid?" Shae jr asked at their family meeting. Starla nodded. "If everyone thinks it's ok." "What do you think, Sunshine?" Shae asked his only daughter.
She thought about it carefully."Could we have a sister?" she asked. Shae looked at her sadly."Sorry, Shine" he said "We don't know what we would get because with the agency we signed up with they'd give us who needs us most. Not who we want." Sunshine looked at the floor. "I'd be fine" she said. "I wanna brother or sister!" Seth and Sean yelled at the same time, "Brother!" Stephan-Alexander yelled. Starla smiled at Shae "I think you can fill out the paper work."
4 months later they were waiting in the airport to meet Sam Oliver, a 7 year old boy from England. When they spotted him they all ran over and hugged him. "You're gonna like being my big brother" Sean said. refusing to unwrap his arms from his new brothers waist. Shae looked at Starla thinking about how weird she had been acting. She'd been jumpy, moody, the slightest smells bothered her and now she wanted to talk to him tonight. When they got home, after all the kids finished showing Sam his new room and were all in bed, Starla sat down next to Shae. "I'm pregnant" she said unsure of how he would react. "What?!" he asked."Shh... I'm about four months along" she said. He stared at her and thought for awhile."This is great!" he said finally. "Are you sure?" Starla asked. He nodded.
2 months later they got an ultrasound done and saw that it would be a boy. Sunshine was greatly disappointed by this but perked up when her parents let her choose the decorations for the nursery. She chose a blue and green animal theme.
3 months later Sunshine sat in the waiting room with her dad and brothers. The doctor came in and announced that they could her new brother. They walked into the room and Stephan-Alexander ran over to his mothers side and crawled into the bed with her. Sam walked up to his mother and looked at his brother."He's beautiful" he breathed."What are you gonna name him?" "Shane Addison" Starla replied. "Cool name! " Seth said. Shae smiled at his family.
2 months later Shae and Starla decided that they'd try again for a girl.
