So much has happened in the last year!
My big girls, Nora June and Rose, are now 20 and in college. In the same college, actually. They have both moved out, and I miss them a lot! (But you know, having five instead of seven children in the house doesn't make much difference, it's just as wild and crazy :-).
Norie June is studying to become a journalist. She was offered a scholarship to go to college in a special program where she has someone who helps her with the classes and translates them into sign language for her. We are extremely grateful. Norie June also has a boyfriend; Abram Navarro. Abram is a young photographer and I was astounded by his work and invited him over for dinner once. Norie June happened to be home, and it turned out that Abram's mother is deaf, so he could sign to Norie June. They have been together for about a year now and have moved in to an appartement.
My little Rose, who is in the Nursing program and whats to be a midwife, not only has a boyfriend, but also a daughter. Yep, I'm a grandmother! Rosie and her boyfriend Oliver had little Scarlett only a month ago. Rosie wants to continue her education, but will take a year or two off to be a mother to Scarlie. Rose and Oliver are only 20 and 21, but they both say they already can't imagine a life without their daughter (who looks exactly like Rosie when she was a baby).
And there have been a lot of surprises with my twin boy's, too, who are now 17.
Dylan and his girlfriend Alondra Young have a son. Yes, I am actually the grandma of two little kids. However, Allie and Dylan weren't really ready to be parents, but they were determined to keep it. Paul Julius was born a little over a year ago and is one of the smartest toddler I have seen. Dylan is a senior, and he isn't sure at all what he wants to do later on. Allie is a senior as well, and she wants to be a singer. She has a wonderful voice, so will see.
Isaac came out this year. He told us he had a boyfriend who was four years older than him. We are supportive of him and we will accept any decision he makes. His boyfriend Owen is a college junior in Law.
My gorgeous Lydia (already 15!) is doing wonderfully. School, as always, is easy for her, but she is part of the Drama club which she loves more than anything else. She had a hard time two years ago when she entered high school. She was very insecure, partly because she couldn't really communicate with so many people. After a few months, though, she started opening up to her class, and her friends have learned some sign-language and they get along really well. She also has a boyfriend, Topher Bruce, who is two years older than her and who has learned so much sign-language so fast that I think he must be a genius.
That leaves my "babies" (they're actually 11), Elijah and Sophia. Sophia's always been a bit of a tomboy (her favorite sport is soccer), but lately she's been getting a little more girly. Sophia's my little sunshine, she's the most outgoing and energetic of all my children. Eli is a little shy with people he doesn't know well, but with his friends and family you can hardly make him stop talking. He's creative and loves to read and do art-projects, surprisingly enough. Eli and Sophia both admire their older siblings.
Henry and me are doing well. It's unusual for us to only have five kids in the house, and kids that are 11 and up. We love doing things together, and Henry is the best husband I could ever imagine to have. Even after twenty years, he still finds little romantic things to do.
Number 1-15: 1
Should there be any more “free” rounds?: yes, but not too many, because I enjoy the rounds with rules :-)
