While Rhett's music career and my photography business have really taken off over here in England, the rest of our kids haven't fared so well, Finn in particular. He never really got around to cleaning up his act after he found out he was going to be a father; Evie broke up with him only three days after Liam was born because Finn didn't have a place of his own or even a job. There was nothing he was doing to help support his family. A couple years and numerous non-serious flings later, Finn found a new girlfriend, Rachel, and promptly got her pregnant within two weeks. What he conveniently forget to mention to her was the fact that he had another, Kira, and that she had gotten pregnant around the same time. Of course, the lie was too elaborate to keep up, and Rachel and Kira eventually found out about one another; Finn could have cared less that they both broke up with him, since he was "only looking for a good time, not a commitment." Alec, Finn's son with Rachel, and Jack, his son with Kira, were born only eight days apart. Finn doesn't really have much to do with his boys' upbringing, but he professes that he wants to be a part of their lives. The courts ruled that, given his past behavior, he is not capable of fulfilling his parental duties, so sole custody was rewarded to the mothers. Finn sees his kids every other weekend. Right now he's looking for a job and wants to move into his own apartment, so he can see Liam, Alec, and Jack more often, so at least he's trying to do something right.
Charlie, on the other hand, is doing very well indeed. He and his girlfriend Adelaide are still together and going strong; in fact, they just welcomed twin girls, Eliana and Juliet. They're absolutely adorable and are the spitting image of their dad when he was a baby. We can't tell yet if wedding bells are in the air, but we're sure it'll happen eventually. On top of all this, Charlie has finally fulfilled his dream of becoming a professional soccer player: he was signed by Fulham, but he hasn't gotten a lot of playing time yet. But his spirits are high and he's sure he'll earn a starting spot before the season is out. The signing also means that he's moving into the city soon with Adelaide and the girls. We'll miss him terribly, but we know we have to let go of them sometime. I mean, he's got kids of his now! He's all grown-up.
Lila and Connor are still together as well. They've even moved into their own apartment and got a cat together. They both decided against going to university (regrettably) in order to further their music careers. But since they're unknowns as yet, their occupations don't quite pay the bills. That's why Lila is also working as a receptionist at a hotel and Connor teaches gym classes at the local school. It's not ideal, but at least they can still play their music. Lila wants to play for the London Symphony Orchestra someday.
Despite their father's attempts, Sydney and Violet both have boyfriends. Sydney is seeing Aidan Fahey, a boy in her class, but it doesn't seem very serious. Violet definitely grew out of her tomboy phase! In fact, she's mortified anytime I bring it up. She's seeing a boy named Callum Spencer, who's her age. Those two are smitten with each other, but since Callum himself grew up not knowing who his father was, I don't think we're going to have the same problems Finn has.
Audrey is a natural beauty and has caught the eye of every boy in her year, but luckily she's not interested in any of them. (At least, I don't think she is! I pray she isn't.) She says she isn't going to date until she's sixteen, but I don't know how long her resolution is going to stand. Ava only barely a teenager and is already asking us for a car. Unbelievable. But she's a very good student and keeps her grades up, so we'll find some reward for her that doesn't include a set of keys and a steering wheel. Isabelle isn't the baby of the family anymore, since she has three nephews and two nieces! She loves being with them and playing with them, but she's glad she doesn't have to change diapers!
