Gabe had been struggling with depression since he left for college. Paula and Jackie had encouraged him to get some counseling, to consider taking a gap year, but Gabe didn’t want his condition to affect his academic progress. A semester into his freshman year, Gabe changed his mind, much to his parents’ relief, and was put on SSRI medication to treat his depression. But with his busy schedule and class load, Gabe found it difficult to make time to see his therapist, although it was recommended that Gabe see him 3 times a month, especially at the start of his treatment.
