John, Natalie, and Ava are thrilled to announce the arrival of their baby sister, Elizabeth Reina! Elizabeth came into the world on February 5th, weighing 7 pounds, 4 ounces; 20 inches long. She has dark blonde hair and sparkling blue eyes, and has a personality that lights up the room. She's a very sweet, easy-going baby, who is content to watch her brother and sisters play.
John, we know secretly, was hoping for a brother, but once he held Ellie for the first time, we could tell he would be just as adoring and protective of her as he is of Natalie and Ava. Natalie is absolutely in love with her baby sister, and is so helpful. Ava was a bit hesitant in the beginning, but she has definitely taken to having a baby around. No longer the baby, herself, she has become quite the big sister.
Sadly, however, in the midst of all our joy, I received a phone call one night that my best friend and her husband had been involved in a terrible car accident. Tragically, neither survived, and they left behind two sons - Max, who is eight, and Jacob, who is five. There were a few relatives, but none really had the means to care for two young boys, and knowing how much our own son loves playing with them, John and I discussed the possibility of taking them in. And after having them at our house for a couple of weeks, it seemed like the right thing to do. They're both wonderful boys, though obviously, heartbroken at the moment, but they've taken well to our family, and John is thrilled to have two more boys around.
