First, a quick description of the DeWinterses, since I'm coming in late.
Connor DeWinters: Thirty years old, editor of the local newspaper. Black hair and brown eyes, reasonably handsome as well as reasonably tall. Enjoys watching football and cooking when he's not putting the latest issue to bed at work. Met Winnie in college and fell head over heels.
Winnie DeWinters: Twenty-nine years old, stay at home mother. Elbow-length straight brown hair, green eyes, curvy and with a ready smile. Has her BA in English and plans to write novels if she ever has a break from their little brood. Both she and Connor are devout Catholics.
Simon DeWinters: Nine years old and in the fourth grade at school. Light brown hair, brown eyes, and glasses. Studious, a bit shy at times. Quiet until you get him going, at which point he'll be happy to tell you plenty about whatever book he's been reading lately.
Frankie DeWinters: Six years old, in the first grade. Dark brown hair, hazel eyes, rather worn clothing. A rough and tumble little boy who is fascinated by bugs and would much rather play outside than come in for dinner or his bath.
Cecy DeWinters: Also six, in the first grade. Dark brown hair, hazel eyes, that her mother keeps pulled back in braided pigtails for ease of all involved. Loves to play outside, very imaginative, prefers stories to be told rather than read.
Bridget DeWinters: Five, in kindergarten. Ashy blonde hair (where it came from, no one knows), green eyes, and plenty of freckles. Loves to play pretend with her siblings, especially Simon (who indulges in his little siblings' fun), and hopes to get a new doll for Christmas.
Rosey DeWinters: Two years old, with a set of lungs on her. Likes to play clapping games and learn new words. Wispy brown hair and brown eyes.
Benji DeWinters: One year old, with hair and eyes equally dark. Tends to be a grumpy bebe but has a pretty smile when it's tickled out of him.
Lennie DeWinters: One year old, the same ashy blonde hair as Bridget, whose inability to say "Eleanor" gave Lennie her nickname. Likes carrots.
Abram DeWinters: A baby. Too young to be of any consequence--just ask Cecy.
Connor is pushing for another baby--just one more--and Winnie has, in essence, put her foot down. Eight children in nine years is a lot, after all, and they have four handsome little boys and four beautiful little girls, she says. It's all very even, and maybe he should spend more time with the children he has--the implication, of course, being the fact that he's too busy working to be a consistent presence within the household. Things blossomed out from there, and even the children have noticed that Mommy and Daddy are not currently kissing each other as often as they usually do. Winnie and Connor's stubborn streaks have set the two of them entirely at odds--he says he wants a big family, she says he wants children like other people want trophies--and while they have agreed to marriage counseling, neither is currently optimistic about their future together. If they manage to turn it around, it will take serious work.
Number 1-10: 8
Do you want more children from the original family?: I think that in this case, eight is definitely enough. Soooo, no. ;)
