Arland and Casey met in their high school geometry class. Arland was a sophomore, and, while one of the most intelligent people in the school, he was barely passing the class. Casey was a freshman and also intelligent, but not at Arland's level, and she had an A. The teacher begged Casey to try to get Arland to try harder, as everything she attempted seemed to fail. Casey was reluctant, but she agreed to give it a shot. She began asking Arland to explain things to her, forcing him to learn the material himself. His grade went up, and eventually they began to date.
The wedding was a beautiful affair, but it was also a bit of a mess. Arland's brother Colin was the best man, and he tripped over a pew on his way to the front of the church. He was fine, but it was a very dramatic moment.
