Rebekah, Charlotte, and LydiaWil and Lydia have had a trying few years. Matt and Jack were born five years ago. Both Matthew and Jack developed acute leukemia. Matthew was diagnosed at the age of two, and Jack was diagnosed at 2 1/2. Unfortunately, Matthew did not survive the chemotherapy treatments long enough to receive a bone marrow transplant. Jack, although he is still very weak, did survive the initial chemotherapy and bone marrow transplant. He is currently in remission, but still needs a few more rounds of chemo to make sure he stays in remission. Losing Matthew was the hardest thing that has ever happened to Wil and Lydia. Matthew died six and a half weeks after the twins' third birthday. Not only were Wil and Lydia inconsolable, but so was Jack (once he found out). Jack had been making progress in his treatment, but seemed to relapse after Matthew's death. At the time, Lydia was heavily pregnant with their third child, Elijah. Elijah was born two months after Matthew's death. After Lijah was born, Jack seemed to get a little better--he had another brother to love. For another year and a half, Jack fought leukemia and was finally announced to be in remission seven months ago. Wil and Lydia are holding their breath and hoping that the cancer does not come back. Now, Jack and Lijah have been joined by twin girls. Tori and Carly were born two and a half weeks ago. They are completely healthy and very happy little girls. They are not identical, but very similar. Jack likes to watch them in their cradle and Lijah just isn't too sure about them. Since Matthew died, Jack has attached himself to Lijah--kind of adopting him as a second twin. Lijah is very close to Jack, even though the boys are three years apart. Wil and Lydia weren't sure how they would get through things after Matthew's death, but they have found time to be a great healer and are now beginning to live life again.
