Simon’s mother has died, and the funeral is on the other side of the country. How do you get there? Was Simon close to his mother? How many family members were at the funeral?
Simon and Lucy were blessed with the arrival of their first son Forrest Reid. Forrest is the first grandchild on both sides and everyone was so excited. Both Grandmothers were in the room for his birth. Simon and Lucy didn't know the sex of the baby and everyone was guessing girl, but they were all pleasantly surprised when it was boy. Both Grandma's stayed with Lucy for a week and helped her with Forrest. Lucy was happy for the help, but was also happy when they left and things could quite down a little.
Sadly, when Forrest was 6 weeks old, Simon's mother Elizabeth was killed in a car crash in Simon's hometown of Seattle. Simon was so glad that she had been in New York for the birth of Forrest and got to actually hold her grandson before she died. Simon was extremely close to his mother and took her death very hard. Simon, Lucy and Forrest flew out as soon as they got the phone call from Simon's sister Eloise. Elizabeth was a much loved member of her community and the funeral was very large. Hundreds of people attended her wake and the church was full for her funeral the next day. Simon's father had died 5 years earlier and now it's just Simon and Eloise left.
