Welcome K'Laira, Varia, Ijaph, and Mirae!
Sorry for this, but all your children are aliens from Star Trek. I saw Klingon and couldn't resist.
K'Laira is a Klingon, age five. She was born on Qo'noS to a warrior named M'Grat and his mate Niala. Niala was murdered by a rival Klingon when K'Laira was two, and M'Grat died an honorable death when she was four. As K'Laira was on the Klingon (is it Bird of War? I get Romulans and Klingons mixed up!) ship when it was beaten in battle by a Federation starship, one of the crew decided to take her in. She is very obstinate, and speaks only Klingon, although the crew of the Federation ship taught her some Terran. If your family doesn't speak Klingon, perhaps you should invest in a Universal Translator. She has a horrible temper, even worse than most Klingons. K'Laira is not happy to be adopted by the enemy, but perhaps your family can teach her that Humans aren't all that bad. Good luck with her!
Varia, age nine, is a Vulcan female. (Good luck.) Her parents both served aboard a Federation starship and were killed in an Engineering accident. Varia was taken in by the ship's counselor, who convinced the captain to bring her back to Earth for adoption when she found out her Vulcan family had turned their backs on her parents. Varia, as a young Vulcan, has not yet fully donned her logical attitude, but is very unemotional. She enjoys being on starships and hopes to get into Starfleet one day.
Ijaph (Two of Six) and Mirae (Three of Six) are twin ex-borg Humans. They were assimilated at age four, and rescued at age seven. Now they are eight and looking forward to regaining their Humanity. Ijaph is male, and Mirae is female. Ijaph is very distant; he hardly speaks from the trauma of being in the collective. Mirae is slightly bolder, but she has a lot of self-hatred for the atrocities she was forced to take part in. Mirae's role model is Seven of Nine from the USS Voyager, and she too hopes to work on a starship when she grows up. Ijaph, however, has had enough of space travel and would prefer to remain firmly planted on Earth.
